1 out of 5 starsRip Off Press
This book is a rip-off. The first rip-off is the cost of this trilogy. The first book is printed in large type which makes for the 229 pages. The book took me only about three hours to read. And I'm not exactly a fast reader. At a cost of $14.95 you really don't get much of a story. Why didn't the publisher just use smaller type and combined all three stories into one book? It's to get more money from the reader - $44.85 in total to be exact. I won't bother purchasing the second and third books of this trilogy.

The second rip-off is the story. This book is a direct rip-off of the 1973 Blaxploitation movie Black Caesar. Young black kid sets out on a path of crime, grows up and forms his own gang, takes over "da hood", goes up against the mob and wins, goes up against the corrupt system and wins, falls in love with a sweet honey, and of course commits all kinds of cold blooded murders along the way. And all because he grew up in "da hood" and life owes him something. This book is basically a story about evil. That's it. Just pure evil. There is no character in the book of any redeeming value. The story is weak and the characters are shallow. If the reader enjoys these types of "tales from da hood" and buys into that "gangsta" mentality then you'll probably enjoy the book. If you don't want to spend the $44.85 just pay $5.00 and rent the movie Black Caesar starring Fred Williamson. You'll get essentially the same story.

If you're looking for a more sensible story about a young black man trying to make in "da hood" try WIFEBEATER by Mister Mann Frisby. Don't let the title fool you Excellent book. And a lot cheaper.

4 out of 5 starsFirst of a Trilogy
Bernard James Jr. known as Dutch in the streets, is on trial for the numerous murders that has been happening in Newark, New Jersey called the "The Month of Murders".

The story goes back and forth from the present to the past of how Dutch at a young age of 14 begin his life of crime. Very smart and gifted young fellow with a lot of knowledge felt school was not a choice. Being well known in the streets was his claim to fame.

After being locked up for car theft, Dutch was release much smarter and a force to be reckon with. Going back to being a stick up kid and stealing a cars was not an option anymore. With his affiliation with the mob and his crew, Angel, Craze, Qwan, Roc, and Zoom they were destined to take over the streets of Newark. Going after the the notorious Nigerian drug king Ojiugo Kamazi and his henchmen, was like taking candy from a baby. Nonetheless Dutch kept it gangsta.

Will Dutch serve a prison sentence? Or will there be loop holes in the testimonies that were presented in court and he gets away scott free. You will have to read the book to have these questions answered.

Dutch: The First of a Trilogy (Dutch Trilogy) is a very fast paced made for TV mob story. I enjoyed this story and it did keep me reading to the very end, even though I came across some grammatical errors throughout my reading. All in all it was pretty good.

5 out of 5 starsCLASSIC!!!
I loved this novel. Dutch was so gangsta and he was the epitome of the american dream. Teri this was great!!!

2 out of 5 starswhere is Dutch lll
Where is Dutch lll??? Why is it so hard 2 find??? I hear and read about lots of people talking bout it but where is it? And this Kwame dude where is he? Is he really in jail or is this just gossip to make the book more interesting. I was just hoping that part lll would be a little better. If dude really wrote these books why doesn't he at least have a web site like everyone else. Oh he is in jail but so was Wahida Clark. People please let go of the Kwame tale. And Teri could u get started with part lll. Cause I got a feeling there's some bootlegging going on.

5 out of 5 starsgreat book!
