One of the ten best This is one of those books that should set the standard for others. A rare treat indeed, it includes the music scores for the episodes! That's how detailed this book is. This book may be read at your leisure as each episode is documented under separate headings allowing you to read any episode at any time, even as you watch it.
Only book I ever saw that had more detail than this is THE TWILIGHT ZONE by Martin Grams. The price is worth the purchase and it's been out of print for years so do not delay and grab today.
Ignore the steep price . . . take control Large in size and packed with behind-the-scenes trivia regarding production for each episode. The authors made this book a fun read. History is detailed. Production numbers and cast lists are included. There was a paperback book years ago featuring short stories that were adapted for the TV series but this is the only book that does the series justice.
One thing I hate is buying a book and then finding myself wanting more because the book did not answer all my questions -- and we have to continue to buy so many books on the same subject until someone finally does justice to the subject so we can liquidate the remaining books we regret buying in the first place? Thankfully, this book is the only one written on the subject and it saves me money buying false profits. The Night Gallery After Hours, The Alfred Hitchcock Presents Companion and The Twilight Zone: Unlocking the Door to a Television Classic are the only other books that dominate the "required ownership" status for all things related to the program. All of these are available on Amazon. Do not be fooled by false advertising and errors disguised as facts on fan web-sites. Books like this and the ones I listed above are your one-stop source.
Outer Limits Companion This volume is a treasury of info on the classic 60's show. Some of the background info is abit boring. More details on the newer series could have been included. The book is a great deal and is a great companion to the DVD sets.
the awe and mystery! I remember buying this paperback years ago and was enthralled with the background of this heavy sci-fi playhouse drama from the early 60s. Time has only made things better as this book has now been expanded with more interviews and photographs and heavier, glossier paper! If you're a fan of the show, it's a must-have.. if you're interested in the day to day grind of television production, this book has wonderful insights and stories from what was truly a 'Golden Age'.
I highly recommend!
A fond return to childhood - highly recommended I can remember very few things from 1963-64. Watching Jack Ruby take one in the gut - on live tv - and of course the Outer Limits! I was only 7 or so, but it seems these two things were somehow highlights of a mundane existence (don't cry for me, all is much better...). This show was the work of some very creative minds. I also recommend the book "The Outer Limits Companion". A very detailed work that even gives plot outlines for several unfilmed episodes. Great stuff, indeed.
