3 out of 5 starsin a row?
ive been a huge fan of clerks and most of k. smiths movies for a while, so i finally decided to get this book, first off, i never really laughed out loud or found any of the comics that awesome, but they were entertaining and shed some light on the askewniverse, i thought the best collection were of jay and silent bob, when they go leaving for sherman illinois, this is a nice, sturdy book, i really like the front cover, and every new storie has a nice introduction, the art is colourful and clear, your much better buying this off of amazon rather than view askew dot com, i would suggest that only hardcore fans of kevin smith buy this book, otherwise you'll probably be let down

5 out of 5 starsTales From the CLERKS!
It took me a while to aquire this book, and it was definetly worth the wait.

If you're like me and you're a huge Kevin Smith fan, purchase this book. You'll never have to look for old issues of "Oni Double Feature" again. If you're like me, you were to young to know that there were comic book companies outside of the big 4 when tales such as "Walt Flanagan's Dog" and "Clerks: Holiday Special" came out. I didn't even know that there were Bluntman and Cronic books made for the release of J&SBSB. Search no further, they are all in this book.

The story "Where's the Beef?" is short, but it parts the tale of how Dante and Randal went from Quick Stop to Mooby's.

In conclusion, buy this. You will not regret it. (Unless you purchase it for $30+, then you might.)

5 out of 5 starsKevin Smith, comic book style
Over the past year or so, I have been on a bit of a Kevin Smith kick, watching his movies and reading the two books he's written. So it's no surprise (at least to me) that I picked up Tales of the Clerks, a compilation of comic books featuring characters related to his movies, particularly Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Clerks 2 (which is to say, not Jersey Girl). And since I am a Kevin Smith fan and he wrote all the stories within, it is also no surprise that I really enjoyed this book.

Tales of the Clerks is divided into three roughly equal parts. The first part follows Dante and Randal, the actual clerks. For fans of the movies, the two key stories are "Where's the Beef" which relates how the two wound up working at Mooby's (in Clerks 2) and "The Lost Scene" which explains a scene from Clerks where the pair needed to suddenly flee a funeral home. There are also three other stories about them.

The second section follows Jay and Silent Bob, and is really one long story of their adventures between Chasing Amy and the following movie, Dogma. Part of this tale would eventually be incorporated into Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The third section are the tales of Bluntman & Chronic, the alter-egos of Jay and Silent Bob, which provide a sharp parody of superhero comics.

From my brief description, it should be clear that if you are unfamiliar with Kevin Smith's movies, you are unlikely to really enjoy this book. On the other hand, if you are a fan, this is a necessary item to add to your collection.
