Who knew there were more verses to Row, Row, Row Your Boat? I have read, excuse me, I have sung this book well over 200 times to my daughter in the last few months. It is a favorite of ours, and I was tickled by the additional verses it had in the book.
Her favorite part is the "crocodile scream" and the "lion roar", she loves to make the animal noises along with the song. This is a great book for young children.
Keep in mind that this book is nothing more than the words to the song, illustrated. We have no problem with that, but we bought our first books in the store, so we knew what we were buying.
I like the ryhme, but too short We never really got that into this book. It is a nice rythym, and the pictures are okay - but it is only a few verses, and pages, long. Not a bad book, but so many better ones out there.
great book My 9 month old son loves this one. Right now he chews on it more than anything, but he really started loving the story once i made a game out of it. We sit on the floor and do the moves and the whole story and then I will read it to him and he just laughs and laughs. I definitely reccomend this one. Also I got my order quickly and safely.
Recommend only for the youngest infants I bought this book and "Ten Little Fingers" also by this author, and I am sorry I bought both of them. Unfortunately, I bought them as part of the "buy 3, get the 4th free" promotion - I bought 6 and these were my two free books. If not for that (and the return shipping costs) I would be returning them.
I have an 18 month old son and a 12 month old nephew, and neither of them are interested in these books at all. They are way too simplistic and boring.
This book basically has 3 verses of the song, which are cute enough and illustrated okay, but not enough to make a book out of. You are done reading/singing it in less than 30 seconds.
In my opinion, this book might be good for about a 3-6 month old when they are mostly looking at pictures and listening to the rhythm of your voice. My son has been listening to books since birth and is way beyond such a short, simplistic book. Over Christmas we had a board book with both verses of Frosty the Snowman, and he would ask me to sing that to him over and over. That book had about 20 full-size pages and this one has only 8, with 4-5 words per page. It is bigger than a lot of postcard-sized board books, though.
I agree with the person who said they bought these books based on the recommendations from other Amazon users, and feels misled. I especially relied on the grandparent of the 20-month old, and after seeing the book I totally disagree with them. I'm disappointed and wish it was worthwhile to seek a refund. Oh, well.
I love this book! This is such a sweet book. I love that as time goes by, my daughter will learn to do the motions of the book on her own. Right now, she sits in my lap and we row and rock with song/story! The pictures are great- the babies are adorable. Also, I love that I now have additional lyrics to this classic song. I now sing all the lyrics to my daughter before she goes to sleep. Definitely worth the little bit of money you would spend to have this sure to be favorite in your child's book collection. :-)
