If you are in a state of change in your life-this is a great book ^ I am in the process of reading this book in a group format and I love it. I am going through some changes in my life (kids are getting older, and I am getting older - 43)and I need to grow in wisdom and directions. I would highly recommend to read this book with a group or a friend. It helps to discuss it with other women.
A New You! ^ A New Eve could be on the thriller list if you want to hear the truth about who God made you to be. The New Eve's heart message is that God made us special and unique according to the Word of God and He desires for us not to forget why He choose us to help our husbands and find our true idenitity in Christ. Whether you're single or married The New Eve encourages us to seek a relationship with Christ first and read God's Word so we can truly find a peace that passes all understanding.
Writer objectifies women in a negative way. ^ Although this book does help a woman look for good qualities in a man BEFORE she marries him as well as giving some blah tips about the seasons of life for a woman; it has really has fallen very short of some very important topics. It really tells you nothing about how to deal with the real issues that women face with their men. Some examples being the numerous addictions that men fall into such as drinking, gambling, drug abuse, and last but certainly not least LUST! Men are more involved with lust of the eyes than ever. This usually starts out young by looking at bra ads, watching TV and even bra commercials. It then usually escalates to pornographic media such as magazines and movies. By the time most porn addicts become adults, they have already had numerous physical sexual encounters that they then bring with them into marriage. Their spouses usually don't find out until it's really a full blown problem. They usually discover the "media usage" being viewed on the computer or the stash of mags and movies and even the traces of a physical affair with another woman.
This book tells you nothing about how to deal with those issues in a "New Eve" way. Yet it goes into telling you about the "10 No-No's" and specifically #8 which says that you should "Never treat sex in marriage casually. It's crucial to your husband. Crucial! Remember, good sex for a man is not only what it means for him but also what it means for you. Stay creative. Surprise him from time to time. Books are available to help you in this. STAY ATTRACTIVE. Tell him what he's doing right and how good he makes you feel. Good sex is life-giving to a husband.
What he does not define is what is meant by "stay attractive". Women are beautiful in all shapes and sizes. I can't help but his attitude will only foster the already self-conscious women into feeling like her body will never feel attractive enough or thin enough or ____ enough, etc. What is attractive in the general media today is NOT something for women to strive for. I can't believe that he has the nerve to tell women this without defining what attractive means in God's eyes. I don't even want to know what books he is recommending.
Also, role playing and all these other "ideas" that society has planted in men's brains and women's brains are not what God intended for sex in marriage! Role playing is what the pornographic community introduced into society...not what God introduced to us. Men feed off this, YES, and they begin to need more and more and weirder and stranger things to get the same "high" as they did before. These messages he is sending is a recipe for disaster.
In a healthy marriage (after you pick out his ideal man that he puts in place for you) I can see how sex would feel right and come naturally to both the husband and the wife. I don't see a need for dressing up in certain clothes and become a toy for your husband. He is to treat you with the same love and respect that God gives to the church!!!
So, women, I want to leave you with this note. This book is more for the unmarried women or the marriage who has no problems. If you are looking to fix your marriage or are dealing with sexual addictions of any kind, this book is not for you. You NEVER have to have sex with any man if you don't want to...NOT EVEN YOUR HUSBAND! You NEVER have to do anything you are not 100% comfortable with...NOT EVEN IF YOUR HUSBAND ASKS YOU TO! Your husband will be 100% happy if you just show up! If he is not, he probably has some sexual addiction that he is either not aware of or he has not told you about yet or God has not revealed it to you yet (if your husband is not telling you). In that case, seek counseling from a Christian Counselor who specializes in the field of sexual addiction!
I know you don't know me but I have been battling my husband's sexual addictions for over 4 years now. I have read 7 books on the topic and #8 above is both wrong and degrading. You do not have to look a certain way to make your man happy. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"; if you husband does not think you are attractive, there is Nothing you can do that will change his mind! I don't condone not showering or things pertaining to total lack of hygiene! However, you do not have to strive for perfection. I believe that you can be the best you without losing weight or trying to fit any other mold that either society or your husband has in mind. You are beautifully and wonderfully made by God himself. If anyone wants to challenge God's taste...just let him try!
One of the best books I've read this year. ^ Thank you Mr. Robert Lewis, for a well documented book "The New Eve". My life has truly been blessed by your book. Your book is well received and inspiring me to be all that God has for me, as a wife, mother and a Christian woman serving and honoring Christ. I have also given this book to my two grown daughters and a few books to a chistian ministry that I serve, with hopes that their lives will be blessed by the word of God also.
The New Eve ^ I totally like the book itself. However we never received our order from Amazon. I have been trying for the last week to cancel our order and get a credit on our bill. I finally gave up on Amazon and ordered from somewhere else. We love the book; we are very dissatisfied with the service.
