Common Sense and Matchless Experience from the Master They call Jack LaLanne "the Godfather of Fitness" and this book shows why beyond a doubt. No trendy, special workouts or complicated diets here--rather, minimum-equipment exercises, diets that anyone can follow whether at home or in restaurants, and plenty of motivational talks and true experiences from Jack, his wife Elaine, and some of the people they have helped. In today's rush-rush, high-stress world, many of us do not have the time (or money) for expensive health club memberships or special diets, yet everyone needs some common-sense advice together with exercise and nutritional programs that can be easily worked into a daily schedule, and which are effective. Jack, with his nearly 70 years of experience, provides this in "Revitalize Your Life", and I can testify that it works! The man is, of course, living proof, but so are those who have followed the principles in this book and seen their lives turn around! If you thought fitness, energy, and vitality were something you had to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to get, spend the cost of this book, try the straightforward, deceptively simple diet changes and exercises therein, and find out for yourself. As Jack says, "You're great! Take care of you." And he provides easy, simple ways in this book to do just that.
Heatlhful living I think vitually everyone could make good use of this book to live a better, heatlhier life. One thing I didn't like, which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars: the exercises are not laid out in a manner that makes them easy to use. They should be organized better and have more pictures. Many exercises are explained with text and no pictures, making it harder to know if you are doing them correctly. All of the exercises with pictures should be in one section, grouped by body part, like most excercise books. Then in the text, he could have simply refered to the appropriate page number, instead of having the excercises scattered here and there throughout the book. Minor problem though. Keep up the good work Jack!
The GODFATHER of FITNESS Dr. LaLanne (yes he trained as a chiropractor) is now 86 and going strong. His website ... lets you in on his life story. This book is well written, endorsed by Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger AND Mr. Richard Simmons (yes worlds apart but both with a FITNESS goal for the world!). Anybody over 40 will benefit from this book, just like the supplement 7-KETO (read about this in Dr. John Zenk's book -available HERE on amazon.com "Living Longer in the Boomer Age").
Together with Jack LaLanne's motivation and 7-KETO(tm) - I lost 2 inches around my waist, and 10# in just 3 weeks. I am 46 and feel 26. Thanks JACK! His best quote "when I reached 80 I realized that was just half way to 160!". We should all be so lucky!
All you'll ever need to know to become fit & stay that way! Jack Lalanne presents all the basics of exercise, nutrition, and positive attitude in a straightforward no-nonsense manner. He's living proof that his ideas have merit. Lalanne knows what the majority of Americans are up against when it comes to getting exercise, and offers easy to do, yet highly effective, exercises anyone can begin to master. This book can also be a great motivator for those senior citizens who may not have exercised in years (or ever!), but who are being told to "get moving' by their doctors. One exercise, for example, is simply "getting down and getting back up" from the floor. But don't be fooled. Lalanne is no slouch, even after eighty-plus years. His style is contagious and inspirational. Read this book and pass it on.
Lalanne is existence proof of the wisdom of his preachings Good book, I highly recommend it to anyone interested in living a longer happier life.
