Book Description: Trosclair, Thibodeaux, and Ulysse are three pigs with a whole lot to do. Their mom has just kicked them out of the house and it’s time they make their own way and start constructing new homes in the heart of the swamp. When ol’ Claude the gator comes sneaking along, however, the three brothers are forced to question their choice of construction materials!
This hilarious tale from the creators of the popular Petite Rouge (which School Library Journal declared "A treat from start to finish") will once again take you to the heart of the Cajun swamps and show you the Three Little Pigs like you’ve never seen them.
Very authentic! Very funny! Being a born and bred cajun, I was a little skeptical about how authentic it would be to the dialect. I was blown away. The dialect is spot-on. The story reminds me of a good Disney movie -- great spin on a classic story, fun for kids and enough one-liners to keep the parents in stitches! The writing is SO clever. I recommend this one for every cajun parent in particular, especially those who have left Louisiana like me, and want to give their kids a taste of the heritage! I also recommend Petite Rouge Riding Hood, although the Three Pigs is my fave.
An Absolute Gem! My husband (together with our 3-year old daughter) discovered this book at our local library, and it was so much fun that we read it every day until it had to go back. The only downside is that you might argue about who gets to read it aloud! We think that this book is so much fun (as is Petite Rouge, which we checked out subsequently) that we are buying it for our household for Christmas, as well as for all of our friends that have small children.
Hilarious rhymes lend to read-aloud and zany drawings by Jim Harris bring to life a vivid remake of a classic. Three Cajun brothers find themselves in trouble when their mother kicks them out of the house - and they must build their own strong homes. But with Claude the gator lurking around, the homes must be strong enough to withstand a strong tail whack. Hilarious rhymes lend to read-aloud and zany drawings by Jim Harris bring to life a vivid remake of a classic.
another great Artell book It is such a cute version of the 3 Little Pigs! Petite Rouge is still #1 but this one is another winner by Mike Artell!
