Amazon.com:
Following Val Kilmer's portrayal of the caped crusader in Batman Forever, the fourth Batman feature stars George Clooney under the pointy-eared cowl, with Chris O'Donnell returning as Robin the Boy Wonder. This time the dynamic duo is up against the nefarious Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger), who is bent on turning the world into an iceberg, and the slyly seductive but highly toxic Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman), who wants to eliminate all animal life and turn the Earth into a gigantic greenhouse. Alicia Silverstone lends a hand as Batgirl, and Elle McPherson plays the thankless role of Batman/Bruce Wayne's fiancée. A sensory assault of dazzling colors, senseless action, and lavish sets run amok, this Batman & Robin offers an overdose of eye candy, but it is strictly for devoted Bat-o-philes. --Jeff Shannon

5 out of 5 starsone of the best movies out there!
I think that Batman and Robin is a really good movie.I personally think that this movie was better than batman forever! if you plan a movie night
and want a movie with action, thrill, drama it's all right here. I think
that Chris O'donnel is the best robin out there too. I liked alot of the
scenes.

5 out of 5 starsLet The Freeze Begin..
There is good and bad to this movie.
here is a lis of the bad and the good to this movie.
The Bad List:

1. George Clooney as Batman, he wasn't very good, and one of the worst batmans ever
2. Mr. Freeze Sucked. and he is one of the coolest batman bad guys.

The Good List

1. Uma Thurman as poison ivy, she stole the movie
2. bane was awesome, unlike Freeze
3. Colorful, but really not batman style
4. Alicia Sylverstone as batgirl

don't get me wrong it's a good movie but even good movies has it's flaws.
This movie was pretty good but it could of been better. if you liked all the other batman movies then you might like this one.

1 out of 5 starsHorrible
This movie was the single reason we didnt have another batman movie until well into the new millenium. Christopher Nolan and the new Batman Christian Bale brought the movies back with startling insight and a new darkness that Tim Burton didn't acheive in the 2 Batman movies he helmed.

This movie is a brightly lit neon extravaganza with a batman that is not feared and revered by all but a batman that goes to social events and has a credit card that he never leaves the cave without. I own the tape on vhs or no wait my parents do. I don't claim this heap of steaming crap.

This movie has 3 of our favorite DC villains. Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze and Bane are wonderful choices. If you think that they are portrayed like the comics you are horribly mistaken. Mr. Freeze is turned into a walking freezer spouting horrifically contrived one liners ("The ice man cometh" oh come on). Poison Ivy is played over the top and not believeably seductive. Bane...oh my bane....is used as plucky comic relief and a bumbling grunting oaf and not the brillant mastermind that broke batmans back and nearly destroyed him. If thats not enough to turn you away then i have more offerings

*George Cloony is Batman. HUH?! That must be a typo cause no person would cast him as the dark knight. I was surprised with Val Kilmer but this is beyond a shock. He doesnt carry the burden of pain and heartache from his parents death or the burden of defending the defenseless thousands that look to the caped crusader for salvation. He has said he tried to kill the franchise. Well he put it in a coma and on lifesupport but not killed it lol

*Mr. freeze is a SCIENTIST!! what about that word is confusing? Im sorry but putting Arnold into the role is a bad idea. He's not convincing as a brillant mastermind that won noble prizes. He's just spouts one liners.

Now i could go on and on but the review will cease conherency so im going to leave it at this.

Go see The Dark Knight...best damn batman movie ever made and thats a fact...:D

2 out of 5 starsBatman and Robin........
In the last Batman film of the original series before the new(quite darker) series takes place in 2005, Batman goes up against the likes of Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy and Bane. While it was a moderate box-office success at the time, it is the least liked out of all the movies in the original series. Why? Well, several different reasons. First and foremost, George Clooney taking over the reigns as Batman/Bruce Wayne. That same year, Clooney was supposed to star in a film version of The Green Hornet but backed out to star in this film. His portrayal of Batman was a big change from Keaton & Kilmer's takes on the character. Batgirl was introduced into the series but with some major changes(she's Alfred's Niece, not Barbara Gordon who is the comic book Batgirl & they made drastic changes to her costume). Robin is in his Nightwing costume(and readers of the comic know that he doesn't become Nightwing til much later in his life). The biggest gripe, however, dealt with how the film was handled. It lacked direction and at times made no sense whatsoever. Joel Schumacher was originally to make a sequel to Batman & Robin named Batman Triumphant(to come out around 2001) but fans take on this movie killed off any chance at that. The film was originally supposed to star George Clooney as Batman and Chris O'Donnell as Robin, both actors reprising their lead roles. The villains were going to be the Scarecrow (played by either Jeff Goldblum, Steve Buscemi, Christopher Lloyd, or Nicolas Cage) and Harley Quinn, who would have been the daughter of the Joker. Also, Jack Nicholson was rumored to come back as the Joker in a dream sequence. But, thanks to dismal results of this movie, it never came to be. That's a good thing, I suppose, as we wouldn't have Chris Nolan's take on Batman lighting up our screens. We all know how good those movies are. At any rate, I wish I could recommend this movie to you(sadly, I can't). But, the best thing I can tell you is if you aim on getting it to complete your series- get it at a cheap bargain bin price. Don't pay full-price for this movie, please!

1 out of 5 starsit takes a bad actor like George Clooney to make a bad movie even worse
but he's not alone. thank goodness I never paid to see this in the theater but instead watched on HBO back in the 90's. the performances were horrendous, Roll Call: George Clooney, Chris O'Donnel, Alicia Silverstone and Arnold. To this day I cannot believe people pay Joel Schumacher to direct their movies. bad story line(s), bad acting. watch at your own risk.
