4 out of 5 starsfinally a new x-men book worth reading
i've been so bored by the new x-men: childhood's end series, but i kept hoping it would get better. finally, with vol. 5, it has. the story is full of action and much more well put together and interesting than before, helped in a large part by the involvement of the rest of the supporting student body who have been pretty much completely ignored, with particular emphasis on anole and pixie (and blindfold to some extent). the serie's characteristic violence is better integrated, and there are also a lot of interesting character moments. it's great to see magik back, and although some will dislike the more anime/cartoon-influenced artwork i loved it. all in all this is the release that i've been waiting for, although it's too bad the series ended shortly afterwards.

3 out of 5 starsArt? Good. Story? What the...
Story is out of wack. It reminds me of a anime story more then a comic story. The characters, not all, but a few get new looks. Unimportant characters actually become useful here. But the main crew we started off with barely does anything...so disappointed. But the art was great.

5 out of 5 starslove it left me wanting more
i loved this book left me wondering if the real dark child is in fact alive

4 out of 5 starsA new direction
Childood's End vol.5 has managed to cleanly rewrite the New X-Men title. This TPB managed to finally incorporate more than the small cast of characters(still mutant and alive)used since the beginning. Finally, it incorporates a fair percentage of the school's student body(made easy by the Decimation and subsequent attacks. This trade is only brought down by general low quality artwork during "The Search for Magik,"and a patheticaly oveerdrawn devil-look for Belacasso. On the bright side, the last two issues were amazingly drawn.
