Product Description: Imagine your misfortune if, like Stanley Yelnats, you found yourself the victim of a miscarriage of justice and interned in Camp Green Lake Correctional Institute. How would you survive? Thoughtfully Louis Sachar has learnt his knowledge and expertise to the subject and created this wonderful, quirky, and utterly essential guide to toughing it out in the Texan desert. Spiced with lots of information about the characters in "Holes", as well as lots of do's and don'ts for survival, this is an essential book for all those hundreds of thousands of "Holes'" fans.
A "survival guide" Love Holes so much you wish the story would never end? If you do, then this little book is for you. It was a fun read with my grandson.
A Really Good Guide This little book (roughly 90 pages in length) is exactly what the title proudly calls out. It's a survival guide to Camp Green Lake, and although it doesn't really answer questions from the book, 'Holes', it does include scenes not found in the book that are downright hillarious.
This book is not a sequel by any means, but more of a book that stands on its own, and Stanley Yelnats' sarcastic tone is shown here. He shows you how the system works at Camp Green Lake, how you should act, and how you shouldn't, should a tent door be slammed in your face. For every small chapter, there is a fun little quiz that tests what you've learned from the lesson Stanley gave you (with some surprising answers). The book also shines the light upon the D Tent Boys a lot more than 'Holes' provided, giving the backgrounds to how the boys got their nicknames, how Armpit is actually a pretty smart guy, how Zigzag's odd ritual of watching a broken TV wraps around a TV guide from 1998, Magnet's shot at freedom, X-ray's proud authority, and even some info on Twitch. The Guide also lists how to identify, avoid, and overcome tarantulas, rattlesnakes, scorpions, and Yellow-spotted lizards. However, if you are looking for more info on Zero, look elsewhere. He is barely mentioned in the book save for the ending.
I really recommend this book for anyone who loved the book 'Holes' and the movie.
Pros *Features more info about the Camp, the D Tent Boys, and just how to survive being at Camp Green Lake
*Stanley's dry humor shows throughout, and it's hillarious
Cons *It's a short guide (90 pages)
*Not that much information on Zero

Survival is Right After reading Stanley Yelnat's Guide to Camp Green Lake, I definetely want to read Holes -the first installment to this book. I really should have read Holes first but I am glad that I read this one because it is so HILARIOUS! It's a little under my age group but that didn't stop be from enjoying every funny moment at Camp Green Lake. Stanley, otherwise known as the Caveman, does an excellent job explaining how to survive your time at Camp Green Lake. He tells in details what you need to look out for and what you should and shouldn't do. Each section on what you need to know is filled with captivating examples and stories. Also included are differnt survival test questions to make sure you are paying attention. I especially like survival test 1 about what you should do if you should come upon a rattlesnake. If for no other reason to find out what you should really do when confronted by a rattlesnake, you should read this book.
A Must-Have Companion to Holes If you've read HOLES, this is the book for you. STANLEY YELNATS' SURVIVAL GUIDE TO CAMP GREEN LAKE is just what the title says, it's a survival guide. It has all types of chapters about everything that was discussed in the novel HOLES. Such as how to dig the perfect hole, and identify rattlesnakes, tarantulas, yellow-spotted lizards, Mr. Sir, and other dangerous creatures. It even has a chapter on how to win friends and influence people.
This book is hilarious, and a must-have for anyone who has ever read HOLES. Sachar has created an exciting world for readers to delve into. Even reluctant readers will be happy to follow Stanley and his friends on their mystery stay at Camp Green Lake, and this book will help readers to survive everything that Camp brings along with it. A must-have for all.
