Product Description: Charming picture book of six classic fairy tales (Cinderella, The Story of Rumpelstiltskin, Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Goldilocks and the Three Bears & Three Little Pigs). Dual-level text, on each page a simple line for beginner readers and a more complex one which can be read aloud by an adult or reading child. Age 2+
INAPPROPRIATE FOR TODDLERS THIS BOOK SEEMS TO BE GEARED TOWARD A YOUNGER CROWD, W/ SHORT SENTENCES ON EACH PAGE, BUT THE STORY LINE IS HARDLY SOMETHING I'D READ TO A 3YR OLD. THE STORIES ARE JUST TOO TRUE TO THE ORIGINALS (LIKE THE WOLF EATTING RED RIDING HOOD & THE WOODSMAN HAVING TO CUT THE WOLF OPEN, W/ HIS AX TO FREE HER & THE GRANDMOTHER). SO, IF YOU DON'T MIND THE STORIES, THE PICTURES ARE CUTE.
Witty modifications of standard fairy tales The characters and the dialogue in this book will interest and amuse children. There is a furry dogmother, Fairy Nuff, a flowerwork display, the Silly-Willies, Mr. Blubberbelly, and the dragon that became flame-ous by appearing in films. The stories are all witty modifications of common fairy stories involving genies that appear, fairies, pixies, leprechauns, mermaids, other unusual creatures and of course, some ordinary people. The illustrations are very well done and are in the margins. I enjoyed reading this book, looking carefully for the instances of wordplay. They are many and occasionally funny, which is the mark of a very good children's book.
