1 out of 5 starsNot Worth The Paper Its Printed On
I am a practicing licensed professional engineer that was looking for a book on Excel written for practicing engineers. This book's title is totally misleading. It implies that it is written for "engineers" and "scientists" not engineering and/or science students. In my opinion, this book was written for high school students.

Don't waste your money on this if you're looking for a practitioners reference book. I wouldn't recommend this book to another professional engineer even if it was free.

The book is also obsolete since it was written in 2003. Excel 2007 has many significant changes to the GUI (i.e., the "ribbon" interface).

It's not worth your time to even browse through. This book falls very short of what the title implies. I made the classic mistake of "judging a book by its cover". I wasted my money and time on it.

3 out of 5 starsThe Cover Says It Is There
The CD was missing. Since the CD is referenced throughout the book, one sort of "feels left out" after a while.

4 out of 5 starsSpreadsheet experts stay in balance
It is my great pleasure to comment on Van Bloch's textbook on EXCEL for engineers and scientists. His marvellous ability to communicate complicated ideas in simple terms shines through on every page. More than just useful, this book comes to market at a time when electronic spreadsheet analysis has become part and parcel of the day-to-day work of researchers in all areas of engineering and science. Simply put, spreadsheet and data manipulation skills are essential in today's world. Prof. Bloch does his reader's a great service by developing the concepts for use with EXCEL, one of the most widely used spreadsheets in the world. The CD-ROM will be especially helpful to students as they seek to master spreadsheet basics and more advanced techniques.
