Great book My kids, 10 and 12 years old, are not avid book or comic book readers, but the devaoured the 9 volumes in a couple of weekends.
The quality of the book was flawless.
Even I enjoyed it.
This book is NOT for kids!!! I was completely shocked and horrified that this book is marketed to young children by Scholastic. My [...] son received this Bone book as a gift. I could not believe that the content contains characters smoking. This is NOT a book that should be given to a child for that reason alone! After doing some research I read that Scholastic at first did not want to include the inappropriate content and asked the author to edit it. The author refused and Scholastic agreed to publish the book with the smoking scenes. As a parent I do not think any child should be reading a book that "glamorizes" smoking. I am also disgusted that Scholastic, which is a name parents trust, would allow this series to be marketed to young children.
Now it really gets fun. The story gets really fun now that we have an old woman racing cows. The story thickens as Fone Bone and Thorn have dreams that they can't explain even though they can tell that Grandma Ben knows something about them. Again the coloring is beautiful and the writing is very natural.
Fantastic Book! Book is very funny! Probably best to read the Bone books in sequence, otherwise, you may be lost, a bit.
Bone ... a hit with my 9 year old! My daughter has now read through Volume 5 of the series. She really enjoyed the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", so I ran upon the Bone series when looking for other graphic novels. She enjoys the humor and has shared the books with her friends.
