5 out of 5 starsBoy Spy
Point Blank is a great book by Anthony Horowitz. It's in a series with the main character being Alex Rider. I rate this book 5 stars, and I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes spy books. It's full of action and adventure! It reminds me of James Bond and Indiana Jones, because of all of the excitment and spying. Alex's is an MI6. MI6 in England is the same as the CIA in America. It's a super spy service. Alex is 14. He's gone through a great training program to follow his deceased uncle's career. The adventures he gets into covers spying, fighting, shooting, explosions and cloning. It also has a really great cliffhanger at the end. I think you'll find it a great book filled with suspense and action. I recommend reading Stormbreaker (Anthony Horowitz's first book) to understand how Alex Rider became involved in MI6, although I enjoyed Point Blank much more becasue there was more action.

4 out of 5 starsawesome adventure
The book Point Blank by Anthony Horowitz is about a boy named Alex, a normal boy living his adventure life throughout his teenage years. But that all changes after he catches crooks selling illegal drugs. After that Alex is noticed by a team of investigators. The investigators notice Alex's crazy adventures he goes on to stop crime. So they want him to go on a mission as a spy. Alex accepts the terms to go to a school in London under a false name to find out if anything is suspicious. While Alex is there he meets bad kids that don't care about anybody but themselves. But Alex realizes after awhile all the kids that were bad suddenly want to learn, help, and do anything possible to make things better. This is where Alex knows something mysterious is going on and it was up to him to find out what it was.

I bought this book for my daughter for Christmas. It was one of many in this series on her wish list. She tells me that both boys and girls in her Junior high love these books. They are action packed and she can't seem to put it down once she starts it.
We went to a book store before Christmas and she wanted to buy a couple of books to read before Christmas - she chose this one and I had to tell her to please choose a different one.
I would recommend this series to anyone with a 12-14 year old.

Point Blank is an action packed spy novel that is full of adventure and suspense. It is the second book in a six book series. The book starts out in New York City where Michael Roscoe, the wealthy chairman of a large electronic company, is murdered. This is one of several deaths linked to a private school for the delinquent children of very wealthy parents. The school is called Point Blank.

Alan Blunt, the head of Britain's M16 spy agency, sends Alex Rider to investigate Point Blank. Alex Rider, the main protagonist of the book, is a fourteen year-old boy who has worked for M16 previously. He is disguised as a wealthy businessman's son. Alex is given many high tech gadgets to help him with his mission.
At the Point Blank School, Alex Rider has many adventures. He learns that the students are being cloned by Dr. Grief, the head of the school. Dr. Grief wants to use the cloned children to help him take over the world. Alex comes close to death many times as he works to foil Dr. Grief's horrible plot.

I really enjoyed the book because it is full of action and adventure. Once I began reading the book, I could hardly put it down. The book is very much like a James Bond movie but is much better written. In conclusion, Point Blank is a well written, action packed book. Anyone who enjoys adventures and mysteries will thoroughly enjoy this book. Point Blank is a book that is appropriate for both children and adults.

5 out of 5 starsAction From The First Chapter! Review by YMP, age 12
Point Blank is one of the first books in the Alex Rider series, and it is by far my favourite of the lot. It has tons of action, which by itself is quite ordinary, but how Horowitz manages to work in an excellent plot that is absolutely not formulaic no matter how many Alex Rider books he writes, that's extraordinary.

The book starts off with action in the first chapter, not making you read two or three boring chapters before the action starts like some other books. As soon as I read the first chapter, about the assassination of a multimillionaire, I knew it was just as good as the others, if not better. There are now six books in the series: Stormbreaker, Point Blank, Skeleton Key, Eagle Strike, Scorpia, and Ark Angel. I encourage you to read them all! - Y.M.P.
