Teach Yourself Training Your Brain gives advice on how to maximize your thinking power through mental exercises, diet, and a healthier lifestyle. It includes lots of interactive puzzles, quizzes, and diagrams.
Brilliant, scholarly, and practical. In this AGE of INFORMATION, everyone needs this book just to keep up with how to use our digital television, let alone keep up at the job...
One of many interesting facts... "less than 50% of your IQ is limited by your genes..."
SO that gives us more than 50% of our cognitive processes that we can improve upon. WOW! Is that empowering!!
While the book has an easy to read, trendy, junk science feel to it.. it is based upon very scholarly research. I recognized the names of the authors listed in the book's references. I even recognized some of the studies that I had read.
In Prof. S. Greenfield's forward to the book, she described the book as having an " up to date review of the latest thinking in science..." And further states that "...this is the first book to the best of my knowledge that gives practical advice upon how to exploit these findings and apply them to your own life..." And my graduate school research tends to bear this out as true.
Everyday simple and easy to apply strategies to improve your ccogntive abilities. I spent 100 study hours trying to assemble a portion of this information. And a price under $15! For me, this book is life changing.
