Terrific book and companion! Easy to read, practical, and a book that will leave any doubtful twentysomething or college grad much more confident, hopeful, supported, and educated after reading this book. It is a terrific book that made a great follow up to the author's first book. It is to-the-point and helpful. Its definitely helped me through my own quarterlife crisis. This book reassures you that you are not alone and that there ARE answers to your questions.
Btw, I have already ordered a few to give as holiday gifts. :)
great book! If you are a 20-something walking day to day in a haze of confusion and cannot figure out what you want to do with your life and/or career, this book along with The Quarterlife Crisis are what I recommend! These books really help put my priorities into perspective, and helped me figure out what I want to do, and how to get there! I am now gung-ho into my career industry of choice, and getting by day to day at my current dead-end job is more manageable.
I carry this book with me in my portfolio, to give me help with networking and interviews.
Very well written Companion This book is well written, and YES, sure it does contain alot of very common sense, but sometimes its the kind of of common sense you don't really know until someone tells you and then you go "Oh yes". I have my copy highlighted and tabbed and I use it for reference. The writers are right in the fact that things are very different, our parents don't understand why things aren't happening for us as fast they happened for them. I recommend this book for anyone. This new phenomenon known as the quarter life crisis doesn't really have any history to use as a guide. This book is very help, it is an easy read, and it isn't too preachy at all. Theres advice on Money, Jobs, Life, Play, Psyche, Health, Work and everything in between.
Good Read This was a good book to read for anyone in the 20's and for those who are not as well.
There are some good questions brought up about career choices, and things you can ask yourself about your current situation. I also find that the book put a little perspective on the work world as well.
The format is laid out so you can flip to a certain section even after you've read the book for a quick reference.
You can definetly tell it was written by two women, and it shines through in the examples used in the book. Although it appeals to both sexes, women I'm sure will relate more.
Stellar, concrete advice - and lots of fun! Every college graduate can use a roadmap to life in the real world, but up until now, we've had to rely on vague advice for our parents and older friends. This exceptional book, which addresses everything from figuring out insurance, building lasting friendships post-school, and staying healthy despite the craziness, is one that every twenty-something should read twice. Chock full of expert, insider tips and fun, sometimes quirky exercises, The Quarterlifer's Companion uses a unique approach that's hands on, without a drop of preachiness.
