Short but comprehensive Everyone told me that this was the book to get for the Psychiatry clerkship, and I completely agree. It's short enough to go through more than once, even during a short clerkship, but it really does contain pretty much all you need to know for the shelf. The material on normal child/adolescent development is kind of skimpy, but that is the only lapse. The style is highly readable, and the mnemonics and exam tips in the margins are great for last-minute review. You really don't need any other text.
Shortcut to success While the majority of my classmates suffered through the tediousness of Kaplan review books, I was able to give this book a thorough reading thrice in four weeks in my spare time, leaving my evenings free to relax. The only gripe is the medications in the 2005 edition are not as up to date as one may require; regardless, made notes in the margin and still did well.
amazing service!!! Fastest delivery! Product was in perfect shape! Thanks... would most definately order from you again!
Not Bad This is a fairly good review book to use for studying for med school psych shelf exam.
Best Book for the Psychiatry Clerkship When starting a rotation, it's always a big question of which book to use whether it be a textbook, or a review title like First Aid or Blueprints. This book is perfect for the clerkship. After reading this book and blueprints psychiatry, I have no reservations in recommending this book. It is very reasonable to get through this book in a few days which leaves you plenty of time to read PreTest or go through this a few more times. It includes details that blueprints misses (however, blueprints psychiatry is a decent book as well). The clerkship directors adopted this book after noting the students' response to this and improving shelf exam scores. It also does a superb job of covering all of the psych drugs that you will see on the shelf exam and step 2.
