The popularity of manga—Japanese cartooning—continues to grow, inspiring interest in learning how to draw this exciting style of comics.
From comic illustration Ikari Studio comes the ultimate guide on how to draw manga. The Monster Book of Manga: Fairies and Magical Creatures focuses on these figures of wonder. Each illustration is broken down into six stages of creation and is accompanied by step-by-step instructions, taking the artist from an initial black-and-white sketch to final color piece. Each drawing is also accompanied by practical suggestions, hints, and tips.
This monster-size manual is the must-have book for anyone interested in learning how to draw manga, appealing to beginning and advanced artists alike.
Colorful and Descriptive The illustrations are beautifully done and there are step-by-step instructions on how to draw each model. The only problem with this manual is that it only shows one model for each character type, a bit of a disappointment since the ones that I usually get 3 to 4 four each type, and that some of the costumes are a bit raunchy. Otherwise, very good resource for anyone starting out.
Stale at best This book has stereotypical character designs that aren't really breaking any molds. You also get the "process" from one point of view, (and very choppy at that). Honestly go buy ImagineFX or something if you really want to learn about digital coloring or breaking the character design molds.
To be fair to the series, I think the first Monster Book of Manga is the best if you really want to buy a Manga book.
A good book for ideas Is a verry good book for those who know how to draw manga allreddy. The biginner will be overwelmd by the beatyfull art but I think the book doesn't give the biginner what he needs: THE BASICS. This book is great for who can draw manga and for those how love a full collerd manga artbook. Keep drawing.
Beautiful Examples of Fantasy Manga! While you won't be able to go from never having picked up an artist's pen to drawing these beautiful creatures, the book is worth having for aspiring manga artists or just lovers of the genre as a coffee table book. I can just stare at the illustrations for hours! And if you are trying to learn, it gives some great how-to ideas.
A must! This book is amazing. I was looking at in a store contemplating buying it cause it was a tad bit expensive, when a stranger came up and told me it was a great book. I bought it and it really was worth all the money. It has such detailed instructions on how to draw some amazing manga. I have to admit there are a few pieces of art in it that are a bit inappropriate for little kids but it's still a great book and worth the money. BUY IT!
