Product Description: It's hard to believe that the Simpsons have been around for a whole decade. When America was first introduced to this nuclear family, they were only featured in 30-second shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show. From these modest origins, they've skyrocketed in popularity, shooting up the charts to become the No.1 FOX show for kids under 17 and No. 4 for adults 18 to 34. Today, The Simpsons is the longest-running animated series of all time (dethroning The Flintstones in February 1997), and an intrinsic part of American pop culture.
The Simpsons is a celebration of this family's phenomenal decade. Arranged by season, the book covers each episode of the television show, with the special episodes (the annual Halloween show, "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" and "Krusty Gets Kancelled") receiving eyeball-busting two-page spreads. In addition, special sidebars are sprinkled throughout, showing:
Simpsons firsts
Bart's chalkboard lines
Top Homerisms
An Itchy & Scratchy filmography
A Springfield timeline
Things the audience may have missed
Highlighting the best of every show, The Simpsons is the ultimate celebration of the cartoon family that has kept America in stitches. It is the ultimate must-have for all Simpsons aficionados.
Amazon.com Review: Nearly a decade into their run, it's clear that The Simpsons is one of the best-loved and most influential television shows to come down the pike in a long while. If the show's attitude was a little less pervasive, this encyclopedic book would be aimed solely at Simpsons addicts. But that's not entirely true--Matt Groening and Ray Richmond have created a book that is essential for anyone interested in where TV is today. That's not to suggest that the book is serious, though--it's not. The Simpsons: A Complete Guide to Our Favorite Family (that's debatable, but who cares?) is a collection of everything related to the show, from all the "couch gags" during the end of the opening credits, to the complete words to the theme song from The Itchy and Scratchy Show. There are broadcast dates, credits, and hidden jokes for every episode. You'll even find a list of things that make Homer go "Mmm..."
If you're a fan of the show, you'll be hard-pressed to find fault with Ray Richmond's collection. The only glaring one is that the stills often look a little blurry. Oh, and couldn't they have come up with a funnier title? But that's nitpicking. Simpsons fans, you know what to do.
Perfect book for the Simpsons lover! I originally bought this book for a friend as a birthday gift, and ended up begging him to lend it to me to read myself! This book looks amazing, With tons of information - Each page is filled with facts, jokes and stories about the simpsons episodes and the characters themselves. After reading it, I really wanna rent the whole series again and watch it over and over.
All in all, Great book and definately worth the money! Enjoy :)
IF YOU LOVE THE SIMPSONS YOU WILL LOVE THIS IF YOU OR SOME ONE YOU LOVE LOVES THE SIMPSONS THEY WILL LOVE THIS. IT HAS A LOT OF FACTS, BUT IT IS NOT HARDCOVER, AND THE PAGES FALL OUT ALL THE TIME. I BOUGHT IT FOR MY SON, AND NOW THE BOOK IS BEING HELD TOGETHER BY PACKING TAPE. IF YOU CAN FIND IT IN HARD COVER- BUY IT INSTEAD. FOR PAPERBACK IT'S WORTH THE MONEY. MY SON TAKES IT EVERYWHERE WE GO. I JUST WISH IT WAS MADE A LITTLE STRONGER, NOW I'M STUCK AND I HAVE TO BUY HIM A NEW ONE, BECAUSE YOU CAN ONLY TAPE IT BACK TOGETHER SO MANY TIMES. IF YOU BUY IT, HANDLE IT LIGHTLY, OR YOU WILL END UP TAPING THE PAGES BACK IN.
Best Simpsons Book Ever This is the ultimate Simpsons fan's book. It has all of The Simpsons seasons 1-8 in air-order, so you won't have any problem finding them. There are a lot of pictures and colors as well. There are even a list of Homer's D'ohs, Couch Gags, and Chalkboard Gags for every episode. This is well worth the money you pay for it; definitely should be bought by any simpaholic.
Great Book for a Great Show! I bought this book when it first came out, and have re-read it often (fully, and partially) since then. It is an excellent reference for any "Simpsons" fan for the first eight seasons of the show. The pages are full of episode summaries, quotes, and trivia facts from the show. It also offers profiles of characters, and a list of who does what voice. A great source if you cannot remember what guest celebrity voiced a character or any other information like that. I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys the "Simpsons" and wants to know more about the episodes.
I Do Like A Man Who Knows His Simpsons Almost everything you could ever think to ask about The Simpsons is in this book. What was Bart writing on the chalkboard in "that one episode"? It's in here. The plots, inside jokes, behind the scenes tales and more await in this excellent resource for fans. This book harkens from the Conan O'Brien-era prime of the series, up to about the late 90's, when the quality (sadly) slipped big time. This was the golden age of The Simpsons, back before the series "became a cartoon." (Anyone who was a fan back in the day knows just what I mean.)
