| 1. Vicky Cristina Barcelona |
| Starring: Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson, Rebecca Hall, Kevin Dunn Directed By: Woody Allen January 27, 2009
I have been watching Woody Allen films since the laugh out loud funny early films Sleeper and Bananas. He reached the top of his form with Annie Hall and the beautifully filmed Manhattan. Since then, there have been some decent films, but most have been disappointing. Moving to Europe seems to have worked for him, first with the excellent Match Point and now with his best film in years. Vicky Cristina... more

| | 2. Whatever Works |
| Starring: Larry David, Evan Rachel Wood, Patricia Clarkson, Conleth Hill, Ed Begley Jr. Directed By: Woody Allen October 27, 2009
This movie was terrible. I could not even force myself to watch the whole thing. Evan Rachel Wood is a terrible actress, I don't know how she gets work. I have seen her in a few films and shows now, and she cannot act for anything.
This film was full of so many exhausted plotlines and stereotypes it was ridiculous. I have to wonder why anyone would greenlight this film. I'm just glad... more

| | 3. Match Point |
| Starring: Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Emily Mortimer, Matthew Goode, Alexander Armstrong Directed By: Woody Allen April 25, 2006
Usually I do not like Woody Allen movies, but this is an exception. The movie basically kept you on the edge of your seat throughout. I didn't want it to end. The acting was excellent and the storyline was one that you wouldn't figure out the ending too early. ... more

| | 5. Manhattan |
| Starring: Woody Allen, Diane Keaton, Michael Murphy, Mariel Hemingway, Meryl Streep Directed By: Woody Allen July 05, 2000
I just re-watched this movie recently. I loved it in college, and thought Woody was a genius. The dialogue and story are still great, the cinematography is beautiful, and New York City shines as a majestic, romantic city. Woody's depiction of the neurotic intellectual elite crowd in Manhattan is entertaining and hilarious.
But today I see something sinister here that I didn't twenty years... more

He tells his agent, Julian Marx (Jack Warden), that he wants to direct his latest play himself, because he doesn't want another director to desecrate his words. He feels that his previous plays were destroyed by hack directors. Julian says that he just can't get it financed--unless he casts a stage struck gun moll for one of the parts. | | 7. Sleeper |
| Starring: Woody Allen, Diane Keaton, Howard Cosell, John Beck Directed By: Woody Allen July 05, 2000
A sci-fi comedy that sports jokes as spot-on as any other film of director and star Woody Allen's, Sleeper hits the right themes, as well, such as coercion in society by authoritative governments (similar to those depicted in V for Vendetta) and the progressive control that modern technology has over civilians of past and present generations. After being treated for an ulcer, Miles Monroe (Allen) is... more

| Starring: Woody Allen, Diane Keaton, Jerry Adler, Lynn Cohen, Ron Rifkin Directed By: Woody Allen December 15, 1998
I love this movie. The first time I watched it I did not have a DVD remote, so I was unable to switch from the default language setting, which is French language with English subtitles for reasons unclear to me. Presumably once I have the remote I will be able to watch it in English. anyway a great film!... more
