This is one of the very best movies of all time. I'm an impatient man so I can sympathize with anyone who thinks it's too slow. I can't remember if it grabbed me all at once or if I had to see it a couple of times for it to sink in. I do remember that I knew it was powerful the first time I saw it. Also, the Ennio Morriconne score is one of his best, perhaps the most haunting of his career. Absolutely... more

| Starring: Terence Hill, Henry Fonda, Jean Martin, R.G. Armstrong, Karl Braun Directed By: Sergio Leone, Tonino Valerii April 26, 2005
One of the few oddball Henry Fonda classics. No redeeming quality whatsoever. Simple, funny, western classic. I love it... more

| | 5. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly |
| Starring: Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach, Lee Van Cleef, Aldo Giuffrè, Luigi Pistilli Directed By: Sergio Leone January 28, 1998
Good western but it does stretch credibility to breaking point especially in the civil war scenes. The best of the spaghetti trilogy in my opinion is For A Few Dollars More mainly due to the strong performance by Lee Van Cleef. This transfer to blue ray is OK but doesn't have any Wow factor.

| | 6. A Fistful of Dollars |
| Starring: Clint Eastwood, Gian Maria Volonté, Marianne Koch, Wolfgang Lukschy, Sieghardt Rupp Directed By: Monte Hellman, Sergio Leone October 05, 1999
Clint Eastwood dedicated his Oscar-winning "Unforgiven" to "Sergio and Don" - Sergio Leone and Don Siegel - and that film makes a perfect wrap to the genre of "man with no name" westerns. "Fistful of Dollars" marks the beginning of Eastwood's tutelage under Leone, and we can extrapolate that he learned well.
"Dollars" represents several other firsts - the first "spaghetti" western, filmed... more

| | 8. For a Few Dollars More |
| Starring: Clint Eastwood, Joseph Egger, Klaus Kinski, Mara Krupp, Van Cleef, Lee Directed By: Sergio Leone July 28, 1998
I had waited a long time to have this movie, along with "For a Fistful of Dollars" and "The good, the bad and the ugly", and fortunately enough I had access to this version of the movie. Great DVD, and the only things in this version that feel a bit cheap are the lack of an informative booklet, and some more bonus features, which in this DVD are limited to the theatrical trailer only. Maybe other versions... more

The best film in this pack is Colossus of Rhodes, which has many memorable moments but it's wildly uneven. It's still worth seeing for any fan of old Italian Sword & Sandal films.
Of the two other films (which are American made) Land of Pharaohs and The Prodigal, Pharaohs is the best but the script is not good. It starts off brilliantly and then it becomes the Joan Collins show. Joan... more
