| 1. Jesus Christ Superstar (Special Edition) |
| Starring: Ted Neeley, Carl Anderson, Yvonne Elliman, Barry Dennen, Bob Bingham Directed By: Norman Jewison August 31, 2004
I love this movie, so I was happy to be able to see it again. It is generally a very clear movie, but there are some moments in the movie where the picture freezes. What I like the most about it is the commentary and special features, such as the discussion between Ted Neeley and Norman Jewison. That is a great feature, as well as the gallery, which was so well done, along with the music. It's nice... more

| | 5. The Thrill of It All! |
| Starring: Doris Day, James Garner, Arlene Francis, Edward Andrews, Reginald Owen Directed By: Norman Jewison February 04, 2003
This is a fun movie with Doris Day and James Garner at their best. It's a bit different from the Doris Day/Rock Hudson duo. Doris Day and James Garner are a happily married couple with 2 young children. The daughter is played by the same actress who was the youngest Von Trapp daughter in "The Sound of Music." They're so cute! This is a wonderful movie to watch on a lazy afternoon. Very enjoyable... more

| | 6. In the Heat of the Night (40th Anniversary Collector's Edition) |
| Starring: Sidney Poitier, Rod Steiger, Warren Oates, Lee Grant, Timothy Scott Directed By: Norman Jewison January 15, 2008
Excellent acting, excellent social commentary. I am amazed how many students have no idea what it was like for people of color a few years ago (it's still that way in many areas of our nation). This movie brought that home in a real way and helped to open the eyes of our students - including those of color. ... more

This is one of my all-time favorite romantic-comedies.

| | 8. The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming |
| Starring: Carl Reiner, Eva Marie Saint, Alan Arkin, Brian Keith, Jonathan Winters Directed By: Norman Jewison October 15, 2002
I loved this movie as a kid. I just rewatched it. Unlike DR. STRANGELOVE, this does not stand the test of time. The reason I compare the two films is that they are both set during the Cold War and deal with our paranoia about the Russians as our enemies comedically. DR. STRANGELOVE remains a classic satire whereas this film, despite its talented cast and director (Norman Jewison), comes off dated... more

| | 9. The Cincinnati Kid |
| Starring: Steve McQueen, Ann-Margret, Edward G. Robinson, Karl Malden, Tuesday Weld Directed By: Norman Jewison May 31, 2005
Features:- Steve McQueen brings his cool fire to the role of the Cincinnati Kid, a small-timer eager to take his chances in high-stakes poker. He gets his chance. Regal, ruthless Lancey Howard (Edward G. Robinson), the elite gambler called the Man, accepts the Kid's challenge. Norman Jewison (In the Heat of the Night, Moonstruck) directs this taut exploration of back-room gaming, building suspense with each
WOW. If you like movies with real stars and not the current flavor of the month plastic surgery specials playing the title roles, this one is for you. Steve McQueen was perfect as the hungary kid on the way up. Ann-Margret was a babe (and sexy as all get out) as was Tuesday Weld. Edward G Robinson plays "The Man" as the smooth card shark--a gangster at the card table. And, of course, Karl Malden... more

This is one of the BEST movies ever made in my opinion. It has an ALL-STAR cast, the story line is great and the acting is superb! I don't know why this movie is not on Blu ray yet. This movie ranks up there with Glory. Both are EXCELLENT films in Black History. Buy this movie! ... more
