One of the funniest movies I have ever seen, and at age 50 I have seen them all. But to make a truly funny film you need to have moments of poignancy and this film has it all.
One of my 5 favorite films of the decade. ... more

| Starring: Nick Nolte, Martin Short, Sarah Rowland Doroff, James Earl Jones, Alan Ruck Directed By: Francis Veber April 02, 2002
Another 80s movie full of funny situations and feelings. The only bad part is the dated score, but since the movie itself is old this is forgivable. Very funny film... more

| | 5. Les Comperes |
| Starring: Pierre Richard, Gérard Depardieu, Anny Duperey, Michel Aumont, Stéphane Bierry Directed By: Francis Veber March 04, 2003
The first time I saw Depardieu and Richard team up was in the 1981 film La Chevre, which became a Worldwide hit as one of the funniest films. It had a few weaknesses, like the gorilla in Mexico, which suggested that the makers were not totally serious in striving to make a perfect film and did not expect it to become such a huge hit. Yet, La Chevre was a comedy magic. Thus, I was excited to see... more

| | 6. La Chevre |
| Starring: Pierre Richard, Gérard Depardieu, Pedro Armendáriz Jr., Corynne Charbit, Maritza Olivares Directed By: Francis Veber March 04, 2003
Excellent French film, great actors. Pierre Richard is one of my favorites. The movie is funny and a little naive (as all older movies are), but excellent entertainment for the whole family. May not be quite appropriate for younger kids, as there are some weapons and drug hints, as well as scenes of night life. I'd rate it as PG13. It was one of my favorite movies when I was in my teens. more

| | 7. Le Diner de Cons (Original French Version with English Subtitles) |
| Directed By: Francis Veber 1998
This is an,initially unsuspecting, hilarious comedy, based mainly on a sweet and naive character. What begins as a mean-spirited "make-fun-of-the-dope" idea, develops into a laugh-out-loud, "we're totally rooting for this sweet guy", comedy. We first saw this movie on a plane returning from France, and we swear the whole plane was actually vibrating with the ensuing laughter!!... more

| | 10. Le Jaguar [Region 2] |
| Starring: Jean Reno, Patrick Bruel, Danny Trejo, Patricia Velasquez, Harrison Lowe Directed By: Francis Veber 1998
Le Jaguar is Francis Veber's throwback to 50s-60s on-location comedy adventures, meaning there's not much comedy and not much adventure but the casting and production values carry you along regardless. Patrick Bruel needs to get out of Paris when his gambling debts are sold to East European gangsters, so agrees to go with Jean Reno's environmental activist to the Amazon to find a local chief's soul... more
