Unfortunately, I must agree with one of the other reviewers here who said that the lead actor became quite annoying. Truth be told, he was pretty annoying right from the beginning. I was very disappointed watching "Phantom." There are some beautiful visual moments to be sure, but I found that the entire enterprise was all but ruined by Alfred Abel's lead performance. Wow! Great job Kino. Very clear transfer. Crisp images.
The movie itself is a wonderful masterpiece. F.W. Murnau was a master of the camera and did some incredible camerawork. Watching the movie and then watching the 40 minute German documentary (subtitled) will make you appreciate the incredible tricks Murnau employed with this movie. Incredible.
