|
By: Bill, Jr. Martin Publisher: Henry Holt & Company, LLC 1996
Love this story. My son already had Panda Bear Panda Bear, and loved that.. We bought this one, he loves it equally as much. He is 2 and loves the animals at the end of the story, and loves that fact that he can "read" it to us after he learns the animals. Great book, we are going to be buying the others by the this author... more

| 3. Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: With Connections (Hrw Library) |
|
By: Mark Twain Publisher: Henry Holt & Company 1997-01
I don't need to tell you what this book is about: everyone is familiar with it. I started reading it for the first time at age 25, fully expecting it to be the greatest novel I've ever read. I was not disappointed. I've never laughed so much with one book. The dialects, the events, the people: they're all so priceless. A masterpiece!... more

| 5. "C" is for Corpse: A Kinsey Millhone Mystery |
|
By: Sue Grafton Publisher: Henry Holt & Company, Inc. 1986-05
What I appreciate most in Grafton's Kinsey Millhone series is her attention to realism. Kinsey Millhone is a professional private detective, licensed by the state, and operating in "the real world". The books stick to this idea, and present mysteries in an almost pedestrian manner; while in the middle of a case Kinsey stops by her office, sorts through her mail, drinks coffee, and goes grocery... more

| 6. Understood Betsy |
|
By: Dorothy Canfield Fisher Publisher: Henry Holt and company 1941
... you will like this story.
There were a few very small typos and the illustrations did not show up - which was kind of disappointing.
I really, really enjoyed this book! If you like The Secret Garden or The Little Princess you will like Understood Betsy also. It is novella length. A perfect read to pick up in between some heavy books.
I giggled... more

It is one of my favorites since I have now read ALL the Kinsey Millhone mysteries OR have listened to them, including the new one "U' IS FOR UNDERTOW. Thanks, AMAZON, for making it possible for me to hear the story again... more

| 10. The Last Station: A Novel of Tolstoy's Last Year |
|
By: Jay Parini Publisher: Henry Holt and Company 1990-07
The book is narrated by each of the people closest to Tolstoy in his final year, by alternating chapters.
Sofya Andreyevna - his wife for nearly 50 years - to me had the loudest voice. She was an extremely complex character and not someone that I liked at all. She was paranoid, neurotic and extremely jealous of all the people surrounding Tolstoy. She was constantly trying to find out what... more
