I love the Last Gunfighter series and the tales of Frank Morgan. However, I agree with the other reviews that this book was a copy of the book before it. My sources tell me that the author possibly wrote this book at the same time that he began chemotherapy, but still the editor should have done his job. My suggestion is to skip this book. Or spend 5 minutes breezing through it in a book store... more

Johnstone provides plenty of action in this story. I really enjoy reading about the lives of people who traveled through and helped settle the Western U.S. and the Rocky Mountains. Preacher, not Mr. Preacher always defends the good, both in the white man and in the Indian, but never backs down from a battle with the evil in mankind. Even though he does not "cotton" to the pilgrims that travel in the... more

A very interesting story which helps to set the stage for other books to follow in this series. A good stand alone tale but also the foundation to all in this series. Very believable events and interesting characters... more

We have travelled a long way with Jamie Ian ever since he was kidnapped by the Shawnee people of the Ohio territory as a young boy, and he met the young and beautiful white girl, Kate Olmstead, and then in other books he went into the Mexican War of 1848, and then in the Civil War his sons fought on opposite sides. But now, in SCREAM OF EAGLES, I find that author Johnstone has brought old man McAllister... more

By: William W. Johnstone Publisher: Graphic Audio February 01, 2007
William W. Johnstone has done what I did not think was possible... He has taken his "Eagles" series and after "killing off" the main character of Jamie Ian Mac Callister in the prior story (Scream of Eagles)... taken the series to a new level of excitement. "Rage of Eagles" tells the begining story of the Falcon Mac Callister Legend. While not using the historical references as he has done in the... more

Destiny was one of my favorite books. Then I picked up Solomon's Jar - the second in the series. This book is a very good read that is so compulsively readable that you will want to finish it in one sitting as I did. However, that said, it is not as good as Destiny when it comes to the writing.
Even with the passage of time I was able to recognize the difference in the writing style of... more
