An artist's love for drawing This is the first volume of Joseph Clement Coll's stunning drawings from Flesk Publications. The focus is on J.C.Coll's beautifully drawn vignettes but it also features what appears to be the complete set of illustrations for Arthur Conan Doyle's "Lost World" novel (Professor Challenger in featured on the cover of this collection). The drawings of J.C. Coll are alive. His rendering style is unmatched and he clearly had a passion for rendering and a solid design technique. To look at the drawings of Joseph Coll is an invitation to constantly revisit them because there is always something new to see in each piece of art. He had a deceptively loose looking style which varied from one genre to the next. This open drawing style made each drawing unique and each design part of the attraction to the drawing's content. Rich black lines of diverse width and texture made each element drawn distinctive. Drawn leather was never mistaken as flesh and drawn silk fabrics could not be mistaken as drawn wool garments. Bold black embelishments applied with brush draws in the eye to line sculpted hues and textures. This book is a tribute to drawing and it's richest applications by a master of the form.
