| 3. John W. Schaum Piano Course: Pre-A : The Green Book |
|
By: John W. Schaum Publisher: Alfred Publishing Co., Inc. 1999-04
This is just how I remembered this series when I used it many years ago when taking lessons. It arrived quickly and in perfect shape too. It offers a great progression from initial finger positioning, letter names and then introduces the notes on the staff. I was looking for this in a series and glad to find it. I also like the technical information that it gives the student and I was happy to... more

| 4. Essential Songwriter's Rhyming Dictionary : The Most Practical and Easy-To-Use Reference Now Available item #16637 |
|
By: Kevin M. Mitchell Publisher: Alfred Publishing Co., Inc. 1996-10
I've used this book for a few years, until I bougth "Hal Leonard Pocket Rhyming". This one is like a regular dictionary, alphabetical structure, with only a few rhyming options for each word, so you lose a lot of time searching different options. "Hal Leonard Pocket Rhyming" (and a few others) has a phonetical structure, so you can find a thousand rhyming options in a few seconds. Much much better... more

| 6. 4-Way Coordination: A Method Book for the Development of Complete Independence on the Drum Set |
|
From: Alfred Publishing Co., Inc. Publisher: Alfred Publishing Co., Inc. 1999-07
This book serves it's purpose, as does it's title. There are tons of exercises, and the way you use them are pretty much up to you. The reason many have problems with this book is because it is very advanced and requires a lot of time, patience and practice. If you're serious about improving in your drumming, you will not be dissapointed and will value the outcome. Again, it's not a beginner book in... more

|
By: Mark Hanson Publisher: Alfred Publishing Co., Inc. 1998-06
Like many of the other reviewers, I thoroughly recommend this book/CD, Beyond Basics Fingerstyle Guitar. I have been playing guitar for around 2 and 1/2 years, and have mainly worked on electric lead guitar. In the last few months, I have developed a desire to play fingerstyle guitar as well as improve my chord-playing. Many songs demand that you have these skills. This book has taken me much farther... more

| 9. Sight Reading for the Classical Guitar, Level I-III" |

By: Robert Benedict Publisher: Alfred Publishing Co., Inc. March 22, 1985
This book has amazed and rewarded me for my efforts. The first book is for levels 1 - 3, with introductions to 3rd and 5th fret positions. The second book is for levels 4 - 5 and gives more exercises for the 2nd, 3rd and 5th positions.
These books are essential for practising short exercise pieces that can be found in complete scores. They seem simple at first sight, but when attempted... more
