| 1. The Stuff of Life: A Graphic Guide to Genetics and DNA |
| By: Mark Schultz Publisher: Hill and Wang January 23, 2009
I got this book because I am always looking for new ways to teach students. This may be useful for a kid who likes comic books, but I find that the storyline is not the least bit compelling. I think that was suppose to be the point of this book, to teach kids about DNA masked in a story, but they don't seem to pull off the story part very well. The information however is accurate... more

| | 2. Transformers: All Hail Megatron Volume 4 |
| By: Simon Furman, Mike Costa, Shane McCarthy, Andy Schmidt, Nick Roche, Denton J. Tipton, Zander Cannon, Don Figueroa, Chee, Emiliano Santalucia, Andrew Griffith, Casey Coller, Guido Guidi By: Nick Roche Publisher: IDW Publishing January 27, 2010
Enough said really. I'm not exactly sure why they slapped the "All Hail Megatron" title on there. It's essentially just another spotlight collection that ties up all the loose ends in the previous arc and sets it up for the next one.
As far as the actually stories go, they're not bad. They don't blow me away but they definitely aren't horrible.
Really, unless you are a completest... more

| | 3. Lucifer, Book 11: Evensong |
| By: Mike Carey Publisher: Vertigo January 24, 2007
Mike Carey, Lucifer: Evensong (Vertigo, 2007)
The war in Heaven is over. Lucifer and Elaine have averted the worst, but at what cost? With the strength of the overall series, Evensong felt a bit like a letdown; too many loose ends were tied up too quickly, and too neatly, to be comfortable. That said, though, it's impossible to really call it bad; Lucifer is a series that stands almost... more

| | 4. Top Ten (Book 2) |
| By: Alan Moore, Zander Cannon, Gene Ha Publisher: Wildstorm June 01, 2003
Having captured Ms. Qualtz, the shape shifting belle dame sans merci, the police officers of Top 10 part One earned themselves some party time, but cop life is back to normal with the heroic rush on the opening panels of Book II. Anyone who made it through the first book is going to want to take a look at the second, though some of the drama (the interpersonal drama between characters) was pretty... more

| | 5. Top 10 (Top Ten) |
| By: Alan Moore, Gene Ha, Zander Cannon Publisher: DC Comics 2000-09
I just seem to like almost anything Moore writes. This book is yet another example of how he can take something as simple as a superhero comic and turn it into something so much more. The book does not read so much as a comic as it does a television series (just better written than most TV). You feel like you can finish the current chapter and wait a week for the next episode and continue. Nothing... more

| | 6. T-Minus: The Race to the Moon |
| By: Jim Ottaviani Publisher: Aladdin May 19, 2009
A great story, well told and beautifully illustrated. I couldn't put it down. Aside from the engaging story-line, this incredible work is loaded with interesting facts and figures. The author and illustrators clearly have tremendous passion for the subject, and their enthusiasm is infectious. I truly enjoyed this memorable read, highly recommended... more

| By: Alan Moore, Zander Cannon Publisher: Titan Books Ltd November 25, 2005
If you haven't read any Alan Moore, start! This book is a follow up to Top Ten Book 2. I won't include spoilers, and you don't need to have read Top Ten to appreciate this novel. Watch the panels closely - there are so many nods to pop culture that it would be hard to start a list! It's funny and sad and worth every penny... more

| | 10. Bone Sharps, Cowboys, and Thunder Lizards: A Tale of Edward Drinker Cope, Othniel Charles Marsh, and the Gilded Age of Paleontology |
| By: Jim Ottaviani; Zander Cannon; Kevin Cannon; Shad Petosky Publisher: G.T. Labs October 01, 2005
The title sold me! Bone Sharps, Cowboys, and Thunderlizerds is a fun and informative read about Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Marsh who sabotage each others digs and reputations. I only knew a little about these two Paleontologists (more about Marsh) before reading, like the huge collection of bones they obtained. There are also some cameos from other well known historical figures like Buffalo... more
