Compared to what could-have-been, a great disappointment. Layout is confusing (terms like 2w appearing before they're explained), artwork is below standard compared to (say) Dragonlance art.
The actual rules are a top-to-bottom redesign of prior work with just enough terminology retained to be confusing (don't expect a "saving throw" to do what it used to do), and much simpler that previously... more

| 3. Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master's Screen |
|
From: Wizards of the Coast Publisher: Wizards of the Coast August 19, 2008
The 4th Edition DM screen offers a variety of handy reference tables for the DM's quick reference. The tables are generally ones that are used regularly, particularly the breakdown of the various states combatants may be suffering from. Others, such as the price of a meal, may not be terribly necessary to have visible at all times, but overall the right information is here to accelerate the game pace... more

By: Wizards RPG Team Publisher: Wizards of the Coast June 06, 2008
I choose this company for gaming books over their competitors because they didn't charge me seperate shipping for each item I ordered, but allowed entire order to be shipped together during ordering.
I will order again from this business ... more

| 5. Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master's Guide: Roleplaying Game Core Rules, 4th Edition |
|
By: Wizards RPG Team Publisher: Wizards of the Coast June 06, 2008
4e is a great edition. I played the first and second edition, but stopped at 3rd. 3rd was a game for people who like minutia, and love to do calculus at the gaming table, and had 12 spare hours to spend on one fight. This edition makes the game accessible flexible, and makes it fun with out all of the monotony for 3 and 3.5e. If you are a fan of spending 15 minutes and a graphic calculator to resolve... more

| 6. Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Starter Set (D&D Introductory Game) |
|
From: Wizards of the Coast Publisher: Wizards of the Coast October 21, 2008
i went to a local gaming store with some friends, and purchased this, by recomendation of an employee. he claimed it was a great was to learn the rules and to get some basic knowledge of dnd. he was wrong. there was no clear explination of how to fight monsters, and it took us 5 mintues to decide how to deal damage. our wizard was almost killed in one hit by a grossly OP goblin.
later... more

| 7. Sinister Woods - Dungeon Tiles: Dungeon Tile Set DU5 (4th Edition D&D) |
|
From: Wizards of the Coast Publisher: Wizards of the Coast October 20, 2009
Well, we know how these "tiles" go- yes, you can use them, but they rarely match up to your dungeon. I have fun using them, as I don't mind making up stuff off the cuff to go with the graphics, but other DMs get a little annoyed as the corridors don't go exactly right, and the players always expect the graphics to mean something.
But all DMs have to do the tried and true overland random... more

|
From: Wizards of the Coast Publisher: Wizards of the Coast February 17, 2009
Similar to what some of the other reviewers have said, this is definitely not a set to use by itself. There are very few large expansive areas with most having corners or walls. It's sort of a chore and a puzzle in itself just to figure out a way to use any workable number of the tiles together. The rivers are a nice touch, but again limit what can be connected where. The bodies are novel at first... more

| 10. Forgotten Realms Player's Guide: A 4th Edition D&D Supplement (Forgotten Realms Supplement) |
|
By: Wizards RPG Team Publisher: Wizards of the Coast September 16, 2008
This book is not needed for basic play, but It is really nice to have, it offers the Race's of the Drow, ( Drow's are fun ) and the Genasi. Sadly there is only one class, that of the swordmage, There is a new Warlock pact. The Dark Pact. But there are a nice number of Paragon paths choose from. and adding that the back round of the Forgotten Realms it is a great book to have... more
