| | 2. The Maxx - Volume 2 |
| By: Sam Kieth, William Messner-Loebs Publisher: Wildstorm April 01, 2004
Volume two of Sam Kieth and Bill Messner-Loebs' singularly surreal exploration of sanity, identity and trauma, "The Maxx" finds our titular anti-hero and his obsession, Julie Winters, wandering in an 'outback' - but is it real or are they now merely experiencing the 'folie a deux'? You'll have your answers (and more questions) by the end of the volume.
Along the way you'll discover why... more

| | 3. Indiana Jones Omnibus, Vol. 1 |
| By: Leo Duranona, William Messner-Loeb, Dan Barry, Karl Kesel, Lee Marrs, Various Publisher: Dark Horse Comics February 15, 2008
I love Indiana Jones. I have since I was a kid.
I also love graphic novels.
So when I saw that there was an Indiana Jones graphic novel, I couldn't help but jump at the chance to pick it up. Unfortunately, it's not all that good, not as Indiana Jones nor as a graphic novel.
Sure, all the elements of a good Indiana Jones story are there--Nazis, ancient mythical... more

| | 7. Necronomicon |
| By: William Messner-Loebs Publisher: BOOM! Studios April 01, 2009
As a fan of Cthulhu mythos and of William Messner-Loebs work I have greatly enjoyed the work that Boom Studios has been doing of late. Sadly, the graphic novel Necronomicon is not their finest work.
The original cover art for this comic book series compilation is by J. K. Woodward is impressive but frankly none of the covers which are now used as interior illustrations have any relationship... more

| | 8. Cthulhu Tales Vol. 2: Whispers of Madness |
| By: Steve Niles, Michael Alan Nelson, Tom Peyer, Mark Waid, William Messner-Loebs, Christine Boylan Publisher: BOOM! Studios December 01, 2008
I went into this book expecting to see illustrated versions of Lovecrafts classic horror stories but instead found completely original stories apparently inspired by Lovecraft. Actually it would be more correct to say that they are leaching off of Lovecraft. What made H.P. Lovecrafts stories so amazing was his ability to merge science, horror and arcane into a completely new genre. He was a master... more

| | 9. Epicurus: The Sage |
| By: William Messner-Loebs, Sam Keith Publisher: Wildstorm September 01, 2003
For a old graphic novel, this was actually a pretty entertaining read. It's a retelling of the Greek myths but with more naughty humor along with modern-day references. The artwork and colors are pretty good for their time, and the stories within are entertaining (three of them altogether) along with some exploration of philosophy and mythology for a decent price make for a solid buy. I especially... more

| | 10. Wonder Woman: Amazonia |
| By: William Messner-Loebs Publisher: DC Comics January 01, 1998
this is probably the most disappointing comic/graphic novel i can recall. the art is terrific, which drew me to the book, but that makes the frustration with the story even more pronounced. Misogony is considered bad in most democratic society. This book could be the poster child for its opposite, misandry. (excerpt from Wikipedia: Misogyny (pronounced /msdni/) is hatred (or contempt)[1]... more
