Jacob, Zack, Bo and Abigail are members of the 'top-secret' History Club, founded by their teacher Mr. Caruthers. Their objective is to travel through time preventing the wicked Babs Magee from altering history.

What's not to like about the concept of this book? Time travel? Kids encountering MLK as a living person! It's a great idea and I would rate it higher if not for one fundamental issue that pops up a few times in the book. In the first few pages there is a reference to Malcolm X and violence. While it is true that Malcolm was open to the idea of violence, the book gives the impression that Malcolm... more

I think that this is the best book in all of the Blast to the Past series. I mean like come on can it be any better. You have Lewis and Clark, Sacagewia, and even a time traveling history club. What can be more perfect. If you have any objections to this book whatsoever wright a review on this book.

What do you really know about the Stars and Stripes?
(Eighth in Blast to the Past series)
Abigail loves history, thanks to her creative teacher, Mr. Caruthers (otherwise known as Mr. C.) He always starts class with a question: "What if..." But this time, Mr. C. didn't start with a question. He calmly stated that they'll be learning about Betsy Ross. Abigail is confused. What... more

This is an awesome book and series! (there are 7 total and the 8th is out in July, keep reading!) After going through the Magic Tree House stories and the Time Warp Trio series, this book series was a SPECTACULAR time twist on American's who helped shaped our nation. Each book asks, "What if this person quit? Gave up? Didn't do what the history books said they did?" I was looking for a series... more

|
By: Stacia Deutsch, Rhody Cohon Publisher: Aladdin September 06, 2005
I liked Blast to the Past, Bell's Breakthrough. It's mostly about Alexander Graham Bell quitting inventing the telephone. Kids go back in time and try to convince him to invent the telephone. It was a little bit funny, like when there was a fire and then a kid said "call 911" but there was no telephone! I learned about Alexander Graham Bell. It was interesting because they said he might have... more

Michael Schwerner, or Mickey, as he was known, was a young Jewish man who had been inspired by his forebears and believed in "justice, righteousness, and equality for all people." He and his wife, Rita, had made the decision to head to the segregated South from New York to help black people in their quest for equality. He was only twenty-four-years old, but he was a man of his convictions and if... more
