| 2. The Complete Sherlock Holmes: Four Novels and Four Short Story Collections in One Volume |
|
By: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Publisher: CreateSpace February 16, 2010
The only thing I have to say here, is that the book, described by the publishers as "At over a thousand pages, the weighty tome" comes in 2 (TWO) volumes, in a box. It is not clear from item description - so I thought it was worth mentioning here. Other then that, it's fine. The font is not too small to read, and you get a complete collection... more

Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Illustrated Collection (mobi)
Of course it's good, it's Sherlock Holmes. This edition of the stories is particularly nice because it's not a cumbersome hardback behemoth of a book. It's an ebook. Sherlock Holmes is the greatest detective of all time. The stories are fast-paced, interesting, and at times humorous. Like any other collection of stories... more

I have loved Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories of Sherlock Holmes since grade school. There could not be a better set of books for anyone from young to ancient mystery reader. I bought this book for my son and he loves it too. I have read my set since the mid '80s. Give volume I & II a shot... more

I read a review for a free version of this for the kindle that suggested you spend a buck or two to get a decent copy. Apparently the free version has more than its share of issues. I figured this was still reasonably priced at $0.99, so gave it a shot. It's more or less readable, but the frequency of errors is just inexcusable... even if it is less than a dollar. There are random breaks in mid... more

| 7. The Adventure of Wisteria Lodge (Dodo Press) |
|
By: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Publisher: Dodo Press September 24, 2007
Well, generally, readers of Sherlock Holmes are looking for some great detective work; the piecing together of a few scant clues to piece together a puzzle of a crime. This story, while wildly imaginative and unexpected, does little to build a tapestry of deduction and instead settles on mild suspense.
***Spoiler Alert***
The "Adventure" at Wisteria Lodge is a bizarre set... more

| 10. The Exploits of Brigadier Gerard |
|
By: Arthur Conan, Sir Doyle Publisher: House of Stratus 2001-01
Doyle Fans who've read and reread all the Sherlocks should give these fun stories a go. Brig. Gerard is kind of a French Flashman: the hero of every battle (at least by his own lights) when he's not winning the hearts and charms of any beautiful woman in range. Gerard is the ultimate egoist, and we love him for it-- listening to him relating these exploits over a flagon of wine, we can forgive him... more
