Eric Flint is a good writer who consistantly comes up with interesting stories with good plots. BOUNDARY is no exception. It starts
out a bit slow, but once you get past the first 30 pages or so, you will be hooked.
The beginning of the story is pretty improbable even by science fiction standards. A complete fossil of what appears to be an alien.

I too found it hard to put the book down. As others have mentioned, (including Ryk), this book was originally written as several short stories tied together. (How about a 2nd edition, where Ryk cleans this up and ties it into one seamless book?) But short of that, each plot line is creative with a fun resolution.
