| 1. The Splendid Magic of Penny Arcade: The 11 1/2 Anniversary Edition |
|
By: Mike Krahulik, Jerry Holkins Publisher: Del Rey February 23, 2010
I'm a long time PA fan, with all the prior books, many shirts, posters and their games, but I still learned stuff about "Gabe and Tycho" and the history of PA. I really enjoyed reading this - and it is much more of a read and less of a collection of comics than their other books.
One cool thing that I got out of it is that Mike talking about learning to draw from "Commander Mark" Kistler... more

| 2. The Death of Captain America Omnibus |
|
By: Ed Brubaker Publisher: Marvel Comics December 23, 2009
Some how Ed Brubaker & Steve Epting were able take Bucky (once believed to be one of the lamest characters) to replace an assasinated Steve Rogers as Captain America and it comes off amazing. The art is incredible, the plot has so many twists without being out of the realm of comic book possibilities, and its all fantastic. I don't know how this could have been any better!! Great stuff!!... more

Gaiman's Sandman series is widely considered one of the finest achievements in the graphic novel medium, but does it live up to all the hype? | 4. Hellboy Volume 9: The Wild Hunt (Hellboy (Graphic Novels)) |
|
By: Mike Mignola, Duncan Fegredo Publisher: Dark Horse March 17, 2010
i just finished the wild hunt, and i love it. every hellboy book gets better and better in my eyes. well except the ones with the short stories. while excellent in their own right they don't compare to the continuing story. this does in a big way and i am mad at myself for blowing through it in 2 days because now i will have to wait months if not a year until the next book comes out. here's to hoping... more

| 5. The Sandman Vol. 2: The Doll's House |
|
By: Neil Gaiman, Malcolm Jones III, Mike Dringenberg, Michael Zulli, Clive Barker Publisher: Vertigo September 01, 1991
Having established the basis for his world in The Sandman Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes, Gaiman starts to stretch his wings a little, introducing us to more inhabitants of Morpheus's strange world, including some of his siblings, his servants (of a sort), and waking nightmares like The Corinthian. Gaiman ties it all together in a fascinating arc involving a young girl descended from a minor character... more

| 6. Dark Avengers, Vol. 2: Molecule Man |
|
By: Brian Michael Bendis Publisher: Marvel Comics March 17, 2010
This is a essential tie in the Dark Reign saga...but it ended just as it was getting really good. Great character development with a people (The Baroness..I mean Victoria Hand & Norman) were very cool but not with so many loose ends or untapped potentials. Molecule man always seemed like a real jobber villian to me until I read this...holy crap!Should of been more action with each Avenger... more

|
By: Bill Willingham Publisher: Vertigo August 18, 2009
Bill Willingham, Fables vol. 12: Dark Ages (Vertigo, 2009)
Bill Willingham wrote in the afterword to Volume 11 that Fables was going nowhere now that the war with the Adversary was over, and Dark Ages provides us with the first hard evidence that he was correct. Geppetto, the Adversary, is now in Fabletown. While the General Amnesty affects him as much as it does everyone else, his crimes... more

This is an awesome adaptation! I wasn't sure I'd care for this format as I've had little experience with it, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm so glad I did. If you love the novel "The Stand" you gotta see this!... more
