| 1. Chasing the Dime |
|
By: Michael Connelly Publisher: Hachette Audio 2002-10
I started reading Michael Connelly's books in chronological order back in November 2009. The first four books are Harry Bosch books and I was immediately hooked. To my dismay, in 1996, Connelly started alternating between Bosch books and non-Bosch books. Chasing the Dime is a non-Bosch book. Connelly's non-Bosch books are never as good as his Bosch books but Chasing the Dime is down right terrible... more

| 2. Divisadero |
|
By: Michael Ondaatje Publisher: Random House Audio May 29, 2007
This is a book that I keep near me for re-reading on several occassions. Even after having read Divisadero more than a couple times, I don't feel that I can do the book justice with just a simple review.
The first portion of the book reads as if stepping into a scene from Heaven and experiencing life on a ranch with Claire, Anna, Coop and Claire and Anna's father. Life on the ranch falls... more

| 3. Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street |
|
By: Michael Davis Publisher: Penguin (Non-Classics) October 27, 2009
I finished this book earlier this week. It was fascinating. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Note: this is not a solely Jim Henson book. He is a vital factor that is examined in detail. But it is more about Sesame Street itself (and The Children's Television Workshop): the research, the proposition, casting, success, practical jokes, and its dimmest hours. Absolutely enthralling... more

| 4. Valley of Bones CD |
|
By: Michael Gruber Publisher: HarperAudio January 04, 2005
This was the first book I read by Michael Gruber and after I read it I had to buy the rest of his books. He is truly an artist in his writing. His books are intellectual and keep you wondering and thinking. Gruber is highly educated and it makes his books more enjoyable. These books are not for everyone. If you truly enjoy a good read are disappointed when your books are finished, this book is... more

| 5. Struts 2 in Action |
|
By: Don Brown, Chad Michael Davis, Scott Stanlick Publisher: Manning Publications May 01, 2008
This is the only book on Struts u need to ever buy. You can be on your own after using this. (I say using this instead of reading because it is best utilized by trying the examples included)
The balance between theory and examples is excellent. I wish designers of other frameworks (like Hibernate) could publish a book like this one.
Some of the sections like interceptors... more

| 6. Night of the Jaguar (Sound Library) |
|
By: Michael Gruber Publisher: Sound Library 2006-04
I have read all of Michael Gruber's books now and he paints a picture with words like an artist paints a picture with oils. I have a library of several thousand books and I can honestly say Mr Gruber is my favorite author. He is intellectual and his work is well researched and intriguing. I wish he had 10 more books I could buy and read and love. If you want a quick read and are into Harlequin... more

| 7. MedStar II: Jedi Healer (Star Wars: Clone Wars Novel) |
|
By: Michael Reaves, Steve Perry Publisher: Random House Audio September 28, 2004
I'm a bit of a completist... I've got all of the Star Wars audiobooks (less the "children's series" ones). A few were AWFUL, most were average, and some were terrific. This one (and the other part of this two-book "series") falls into the "average but enjoyable" category.
Basically, these books aren't so much "Star Wars" in the classic sense as they are "M.A.S.H. in a Star Wars setting."... more

| 8. Superman/Batman: Search for Kryptonite SC (Superman (Graphic Novels)) |
|
By: Michael Green, Mike Johnson Publisher: DC Comics November 10, 2009
The Superman/Batman story line started off strong when Jeph Loeb was writing it, but quickly fell off starting with Vengeance bounced back with Enemies Among Us then slowed down. The Search for Kryptonite brings the story back to it's roots with Superman enlisting the help of Batman to rid the world of the green substance. It made some references to Public Enemies, which is always nice when they... more

| 10. Building Scientific Apparatus |
|
By: John H. Moore, Christopher C. Davis, Michael A. Coplan, Sandra C. Greer Publisher: Cambridge University Press July 20, 2009
I had an early edition of this book and was very impressed with it, although some of the sections seemed a little dated. Now, with this new edition, the authors have done a fine job of updating the sections that have changed and added even more information and reference data to draw upon. I highly recommend this book if your a student in a lab or professional building out a new experiment or just basically... more
