| | 2. Michael Chabon Presents...The Amazing Adventures of the Escapist Volume 2 (Amazing Adventures of the Escapist (Graphic Novels)) |
| By: Brian K Vaughan, Kevin McCarthy, Marv Wolfman, Matt Kindt, Roy Thomas, Stuart Moore, Mike Mignola, Roger Petersen, Dean Haspiel, Joe Staton, and others Publisher: Dark Horse December 08, 2004
The first volume, consisting of the content of issues no. 1 and 2 of the comic book series based on the fictional comic book characters from Chabon's novel, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, was much more successful than this second installment, taken from nos. 3 and 4. Maybe the "try harder" rule about sequels applies here, too, but the quality of both art and plotting is much lower and... more

| | 3. Super Spy |
| By: Matt Kindt By: Matt Kindt Publisher: Top Shelf Productions August 29, 2007
Super Spy is easily one of the very best graphic novels I have ever read. The author skillfully interweaves several stories of everyday lives of WWII spies into a completely engrossing nonlinear narrative that will still captivate the reader after several revisits. After finishing this book, I was left wondering why it has not been made into a movie yet (perhaps by Quentin Tarantino)? It would be... more

| | 4. 3 Story: The Secret History of the Giant Man |
| By: Matt Kindt By: Matt Kindt Publisher: Dark Horse October 28, 2009
3 Story is the very lonely story of Craig Pressgang growing up with gigantism and how it affects his life and those around him. Kindt's style of art is a bit austere, but it works well given the story and setting. His text is also very sparse, but what little there is leaves a deep impact. The packaging is well done with a die-cut hardcover.
3 Story is split into 3 sections from the... more

| | 7. 2 Sisters |
| By: Matt Kindt By: Matt Kindt Publisher: Top Shelf Productions July 21, 2004
The professional reviewers disparage the talent on display here, but take another look. Matt Kindt's style is different, brush-like, using lots of black space, and unlike many other illustrators work. That is what caught my eye when I found this book on my library's shelf. The story was convoluted, like a spy thriller ought to be, with lots of noir-ish touches and sparing with words. Following the... more

| | 8. Pistolwhip: Yellow Menace |
| By: Jason Hall, Matt Kindt Publisher: Top Shelf Productions January 15, 2003
Last year I read Hall & Kindt's Pistolwhip and thought it was cute, entertaining and a great first effort. I picked up the second volume (not counting the superb Mephisto's Box--a shorter story that packs some great emotional power) expecting more of the same and was floored. The seemingly simple yet complex story and art are still there, but the characters have more depth and the very intriguing... more

| By: Matt Kindt, Jason Hall Publisher: Top Shelf Productions August 01, 2001
I love this book. The art is great on every page. The story will draw one in and keep him intersted all the way to the end, and it's a thick book... more
