Product Description: The author draws from her own personal experience to bring hope to children affected by the tragedy of divorce. Illustrator Abigail Garner portrays a young boy walking through his parents' divorce.
Please do not be confused about this author's name! To those who may be wondering if this is the same Abigail Garner who wrote the excellent book "Families Like Mine": it is NOT the same author! The conservative Christian views of the author of this book are different than the Minnesota author who wrote of her own experience of her parents' divorce when she was 5. The Abigail Garner who wrote "Families Like Mine" has been an activist for gay family rights for nearly a decade.
Caring about children and giving hope through divorce This book does not make it seem like the hurt of divorce is no big deal, but it gives hope that life will eventually get better. You can see the emotions through the faces of the people in the drawings. Anybody can be helped if they read this book.
Deceptive! This is NOT a general book to help children overcome the pain of their parents' divorce, but, rather, a book about using Christian faith as a means of coping. Nothing in the book description, author's comment at Amazon, or any of the reviews printed on the back cover of the book allude to this. Makes one wonder why they chose to be so deceptive.
