| 1. Marvel Masterworks Atlas Era Jungle Adventure 1 |
| By: Don Rico, Werner Roth, Jim Mooney Publisher: Marvel Enterprises January 20, 2010
This has probably been my second favorite Atlas Era masterwork next to the Black Knight/Yellow Claw volume. I'm somewhat at a loss to adequately explain why this is the case. The stories in this issue are generally no better and no worse than the ones in other Atlas Era masterworks, that is to say, juvenile at best and wretched at worst.
I think the thing that won me over was consistency... more

I don't know what the other reviewers where reading, but this a solid run on The Amazing Spider-man, One reviewer said Parker had no girlfriends in his life at the time, this is not true, Betty Brant makes a return (She's separated from Ned Leeds)and wants to hook up with Pete (she here through out the whole book), then there's the Black Cat, she really likes Spider-man, Mary Jane is gone but not... more

| | 5. Omega: The Unknown Classic TPB |
| By: Jim Mooney, Herb Trimpe, Steve Gerber, Mary Skrenes, Scott Edelman, Roger Stern Publisher: Marvel Comics January 11, 2006
Having read almost all of Steve Gerber's work for Marvel, DC, and the short-lived Malibu (during the early 90's comic boom), I can safely say that although Omega the Unknown was abruptly cancelled with no solid or worthy ending (written by Steven Grant rather than Steve Gerber), it is one of the best pieces of comic literature I've experienced. Steve Gerber put himself on the comics map with his awesome... more

| | 6. Essential Moon Knight, Vol. 1 (Marvel Essentials) |
| By: Doug Moench, Bill Mantlo, Steven Grant Publisher: Marvel Comics March 15, 2006
Moon Knight is an awesome character. He has so many dimensions and a lot of potential. The writers however seemed intent on not utilizing this potential as well as they could have. As I read each issue I wrote little mini-reviews of them and my thoughts on them. I also addressed things about the series as a whole that annoy me. It might sound like I hate it but while some of it is just plain bad I... more

| | 8. Essential Marvel Team-Up Volume 3 TPB |
| By: Gerry Conway, Bill Mantlo, Chris Claremont, Bill Kunkel, Gary Friedrich, Bonnie Wilford, Ralph Macchio, John Warner, Sal Buscema, Mike Esposito, Dave Hunt, John Byrne, Pablo Marcos, Dave Cockrum, David Wenzel, Jim Mooney, Kerry Gammill, Don Perlin, Howard Chaykin, J. Aclin Publisher: Marvel Comics September 16, 2009
This was the golden years for Marvel Team-Up. John Byrne inked a number of issues, and his list of guest stars was unique rather than prancing the same characters through time and again. Minor characters like Woodgod, Captain Britain, Havok, Tigra, Ms. Marvel, Iron Fist, Daughters of the Dragon, and Power Man went alongside Marvel's heavy hitters like Hulk, Iron Man, the Human Torch, Yellowjacket... more

| By: Roy Thomas, Michael Ploog, Jim Mooney, Tom Sutton, Herb Trimpe, Gary Friedrich, John Byrne, Gerry Conway, Len Wein, Marv Wolfman Publisher: Marvel Comics October 19, 2005
Ghost Rider battles Satan, the ultimate adversary, who unfortunately comes across as a stereotypical, almost comically inept supervillian. A necessary look at the character's origins, but it only got better from here. ... more

This is a mixed bag, some good stories, some not so good. While there's only so much you can do with a mindless - though empathic, voiceless character that is limited to a near uninhabited geographic environement (unless you count the trip to the Himilayian Mountains where he was mistaken as a Yeti??? - an issue from this collection)
Reading through this you get the sense that it takes... more
