| 1. The Odyssey (Marvel Illustrated) |
|
By: Roy Thomas, Alexandre Dumas Publisher: Marvel Comics August 05, 2009
A compelling adaptation of Homer's classic, I bought it for my 11yo son to introduce him to the classics. He's a big fan of the Percy Jackson series, so this is a natural progression. He enjoyed watching and reading of the heroic battles and adventures of the trickster Odysseus, and the illustrations bring out the story in a way that brings the younger set into the arena. ... more

|
By: Rick Remender Publisher: Radical Publishing January 19, 2010
It's a great first issue. Does exactly what an introduction should do. Artwise, It establishes the style and the overall mood, which is absolutely terrific. Tocchini does wonders with the storytelling. The dialogues could be a bit better... some of the mexican-english is horribly written, makes no sense at all. But the feeling of the characters and the anticipation for the story is there. Definitely... more

By: Ron Marz, Greg Tocchini, Tom Grindberg, Jay Leisten Publisher: DC Comics January 31, 2007
I can't believe the number of positive reviews for this craptastic book. You can look at my other reviews and know that I'm a VERY generous reviewer. I like the DCU and just about everything within it. But even my blind devotion to DC's iconic characters doesn't save this train wreck. There's NO reason to read this. Nothing relevant happens and certainly nothing interesting happens. Only a die hard... more

|
By: Akira Yoshida, Greg Tocchini Publisher: Marvel Comics April 27, 2005
As an adult reader of comic books, I found this to be pretty immature, but what can you expect with a storyline following the youth of the characters. This was a minor drawback for me because I am a huge fan of Thor. Granted it is a hundred times better than a story the WB would air, but the relationships of the characters in the story could fit right in. For younger audiences,I have no doubt this... more

I think this title definitly hits home to the young generation of comic readers since its dealing with kids, well godlings in this series... But it gives some good insight for thor and makes you wonder how he fell so hard in the Thor series, then again with so much on his shoulders who would not have a... opps giving spoilers! It is a great read and my nephew and niece loved reading it... more

By: Greg Pak, Greg Tocchini Publisher: Marvel Comics February 01, 2006
Neil Gaiman is a tough act to follow, and "Marvel 1602: New World" illustrates this point beautifully. Greg Pak tries to recapture Gaiman's magic, but for the most part this story offers little new in the 1602 universe. The Hulk, Spider-Man and J. Jonah Jamison characters never reach the potential that this brave new world presents to creators and readers alike. The one exception, and it is a significant... more
