I just recently purchased a couple of Doug TenNapel's graphic novels after reading an article on the groing craze of expressing world-views through this form. As I scanned the shelves at our local bookstores, I noticed that most of the novels I saw were very unappealing to me. I finally stumbled upon Doug's work and thought that it really stood out from the rest. It is real, raw, entertaining, hilarious... more

Doug is a funny man. I played earthworm, and ive read a few of his graphic novels.
This was a fairly quick read, but Oh was it a good one. very original, slick and funny.
As usual for doug it has great art also. BTW it is black and white, not that it bothers me i sometimes prefer b + w comics... more

| 3. Tommysaurus Rex |
|
By: Doug TenNapel By: Doug TenNapel Publisher: Image Comics August 18, 2004
This small edition to the TenNapel library is a lightning fast read, but delivers on all the right notes. Every story point that is set up is paid off nicely without being bloated or overly sentimental. A fun and heartwarming read, though not quite recommended for kids under 13. Pick up Tommysaurus Rex today and enjoy... more

I mean "juvenile" in the nicest way, having once been a youngster myself, I could easily identify with the fart and nerd humor. The story was a lot of fun - couldn't put it down! The characters are realistic enough, the humor was fresh and pleasantly rude at times. Really a unique and worthwhile read!... more

By: Doug Tennapel By: Doug Tennapel Publisher: Image Comics February 14, 2007
Don't be fooled by the cover--GEAR is far darker than it looks. Funny cats aside, this is a story about war, and all of the horrors involved. Once you know this, you're well-prepared for a wild ride.
TenNapel's characters are flawed, charming, and believable. You really end up rooting for them as the story goes on, and caring about what happens to them. As other reviewers have mentioned... more

By: Doug Tennapel Publisher: Image Comics November 28, 2007
A little more normal than usual. Most of Doug Tennapels G/N are realy out there. Random elements place together and then brought into harmony. Flick is a survival story with ape men, short, not at all what I expected but overall a good G/N. Not an action, sci-fi or fantasy but a good short G/N... more

This book is amazing! An entirely self-contained story of space eels, demon cats, symbiotic arms, a giant bug, the Shroud of Turin, and a government researcher. Indiana Jones wishes it was this good. Buy this book! Seriously buy 2 copies and give one to a friend who enjoys epic tales of sci-fi awesomeness!!!!!!!!!... more

The story, and the art are amazing, but I had some serious issues with the binding. I get about half way through the book and get ready to go get something to eat, I close it and the cover freakin' falls off! Now I love my books, and I take care of them like a mother bear (only leaving them unguarded long enough to forage). This isn't the first and probably won't be the last time, but when it does... more
