Mike Carey, Lucifer: Mansions of the Silence (Vertigo, 2004)
Lucifer sets a crew to Naglfar to journey to the Mansions of the Silence, where Elaine and Mona's spirits are in torment. No, it seems Elaine's storyline is not yet finished, though a good number of loose ends get tied up in this volume. What really impresses me about Carey's series, as impressed me about Gaiman's before this... more

Mike Carey, Lucifer: Evensong (Vertigo, 2007)
The war in Heaven is over. Lucifer and Elaine have averted the worst, but at what cost? With the strength of the overall series, Evensong felt a bit like a letdown; too many loose ends were tied up too quickly, and too neatly, to be comfortable. That said, though, it's impossible to really call it bad; Lucifer is a series that stands almost... more

|
By: Mike Carey, etc. Publisher: Titan Books Ltd June 27, 2003
This installment of Lucifer is perhaps the best of the series, so far. Mike Carey's writing is brilliant, depicting biblical fantasy like no other. One of the reasons for this is not the overall story, but for the stand alone stories that focus on the people who are affected by the titantic struggle between Lucifer's desire for freedom, on a personal and universal level, and those that seek to curtail... more

|
By: Mike Carey Publisher: Vertigo February 01, 2004
Mike Carey, Lucifer: Inferno (Vertigo, 2003)
The battle between Lucifer and Amanadiel is finally here, but, of course, nothing is what it seems. Lucifer's power is still tied up in the feathers held by Susanoo-no-Mikoto. Makizeen and the Lilim are off hunting for Susanoo, but there are more than enough enemies-- and allies-- in Hell to make Lucifer wonder if their power will be necessary... more

By: Si Spencer, Dean Ormston Publisher: Titan Books Ltd February 25, 2005
I liked Gaiman's original Books of Magic but had trouble finishing it and never got the following books. I read the first part of Life in Wartime in a sampler book from Vertigo and was immediately hooked. This book has the intrigue and politics that the first book skipped. I'll probably end up with the first series as well but Life in Wartime is what brought me back... more
