| 1. How To Create Comics, From Script To Print |
| By: Danny Fingeroth; Mike Manley Publisher: TwoMorrows Publishing June 21, 2006
A disappointing book. VERY poorly organized. A thin book on a big topic. It spent a lot of time on the area where it was weakest: scripts. A better investment would be Denny O'Neil's The DC Comics Guide to Writing Comics. Also of interest was Klaus Janson's The DC Comics Guide to Pencilling Comics.
Character development is beautifully done in Orson Scott Card's Characters and Viewpoint... more

This book is unusual, but great for relating comic book heros and society! I had to use it for class and ended up reading it from cover to cover! such an interesting read!... more

| | 5. Fantastic Four Visionaries, Vol. 2 (v. 2) |
| By: Walter Simonson Publisher: Marvel Comics September 24, 2008
If you ignore the first issue reprinted in this second volume (which is a mystery to its inclusion, as it wasn't written or drawn by Mr. Simonson), the rest of the book reads in the formula of classic FF storytelling. The FF, realizing that they've landed on Earth, just not theirs, break out the heavy guns (literally!) and head to Russia in order to stop World War III. After defeating the... more

A follow-up book on about the contribution of Italians to the comic book industry would be interesting. You have people like Carmine Infantino, Vince Colletta, John Romita, John Bucema, Sal Bucema, and Frank Frazetta.

| | 7. Spider-Man and Iron Man |
| By: Pierce Askegren; Danny Fingeroth; Pierce Askergen Publisher: G P Putnam March 01, 1997
I gotta say I found this trilogy to be uneven, but this was the best one. I bet it's because Askegren did more work on this than the other two (his name is first), as he's a much better writer than Fingeroth & Fein (who are the worst kind of hacks). I especially liked the way Doom was handled, even though he wasn't in it much... more

| | 8. Essential Dazzler Volume 2 TPB |
| By: Danny Fingeroth, Steven Grant, Frank Springer, Jim Shooter, Ken McDonald, Mike Carlin, Linda Grant, Bob Denatale, Archie Goodwin, Ann Nocenti, Mark Bright, Geoff Isherwood, Tom Morgan, Paul Chadwick, Don Perlin, Al Milgrom By: Frank Springer Publisher: Marvel Comics May 13, 2009
If you bought volume 1 then you will definitely want to pick up this second volume which completes the entire Dazzler comic book series. I prefer Frank Springer's artwork in the first volume and her original costume which is updated to look more 80's rather than 70's disco but this is still worth picking up. ... more

| | 9. Rampage: Doom's Day, Book One (Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk) (Book 1) |
| By: Danny Fingeroth Publisher: Berkley December 01, 1998
Written at a High School level, this is a quite literate and well developed treatment of The Hulk, Spiderman, and The Black Cat in novel form. It has all the action and story value of the comics. For newcomers, there's enough exposition to introduce the characters, done briefly enough not to annoy old-timers well acquainted with the Marvel Universe.
There's reasonable complexity here... more

My all-time super favorite super heroine. Dazzler kicks-a and does it in spandex and roller skates! I only wish it were in color but you get so many old issues this is a bargain. So good I bought two copies... more
