This is a great book. Following the Annihilation wave the Universe has plunged into chaos. The Phalinx are the newest threat. The first two books of this collection were hit and miss for me but this third book really hammered home how good Marvel cosmic can be. There was solid stroy-telling from both art and writing. The thing that this avoided (except for the Heralds extra 2 issues) was there was no "big concept" cosmic stuff that bores the crap out of everyone. In 2006 Marvel took a dangerous chance with their superhero universe with the Civil War crossover. After a group of young heroes accidentally destroy a school Congress hastily passes a law requiring superheroes to register and be trained. The act tears the superhero community apart as half follow Captain America and refuse to register while the pro-reg heroes led by Iron Man hunt them down.

Masters of Evil takes place sometime after House of M Civil War and basically before House of M Avengers. I mainly bought this just to keep my House of M collection complete and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
