By: Stan Lee, Brian Michael Bendis, Brian Reed, Dan Slott Publisher: Marvel Comics April 30, 2008
"Secret Invasion" Written by Brian Michael Bendis Illustrated by Leinil Yu (Marvel Comics, 2009) ------------------------------------ At last, the culmination of several years worth of relentless crossover, tie-in mega-"events" that have dominated Marvel's output for the last several years. It turns out that many of the reality-wrenching events -- "Civil War", etc. -... more

| 2. Dark Reign: The Sinister Spider-Man TPB |
|
By: Brian Reed, Chris Bachalo Publisher: Marvel Comics January 20, 2010
If you have been paying attention at all to the recent Dark Reign story lines across the Marvel Universe and have not checked this particular mini-series out, then you need to pick this up right now! The writing is sharp and witty and the art fits with the writing perfctly.
The story shows Osborn's "Spider-Man" as a hero in New York trying to help the crime problem while helping a... more

|
By: Keith Giffen, Christos Gage, Stuart Moore, Brian Reed, Andrea Divito, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Mike McKone, Claudio Castellini Publisher: Marvel Comics July 25, 2007
The first two books of this collection were hit and miss for me but this third book really hammered home how good Marvel cosmic can be. There was solid stroy-telling from both art and writing. The thing that this avoided (except for the Heralds extra 2 issues) was there was no "big concept" cosmic stuff that bores the crap out of everyone. I really enjoyed how the story ended and look forward to... more

|
By: Fred Van Lente, Brian Reed Publisher: Marvel Comics January 06, 2010
This slim hardcover collects Amazing Spider-Man issues #602-605 that were originally published by Marvel Comics in 2009. Written by Fred Van Lente and penciled by Barry Kitson, #602-604 completes the "Red Headed Stranger" story arc that started in #601. The plot centers on the sinister return of classic villain The Chameleon, who is much darker than in previous treatments. Peter Parker pursues a... more

| 8. Ms. Marvel Vol. 3: Operation Lighting Storm (Mighty Avengers) (v. 3) |
|
By: Brian Reed Publisher: Marvel Comics January 30, 2008
I will not (and I cannot) go into details about the complicate past of Ms. Marvel. Apparently, Carol DANVERS aka Ms. Marvel has had difficulty to impose herself as a popular character. Well, with author Brian REED at the helm and a good team of artists, it seems that the recent relaunch is a success. While in no way part of those modern classic comics that redefine the 'super hero' concept, REED's... more

| 9. Ms. Marvel Volume 8: War Of The Marvels Premiere HC (Ms Marvel) |
|
By: Brian Reed, Sana Takeda Publisher: Marvel Comics January 20, 2010
The relaunch of Ms. Marvel was well received around these shores but the good plots seem to have been lost along the line. Here, in the context of a protracted Dark Reign crossover (yawn), we get Ms. Marvel dying and then living again. We also get another Ms. Marvel (Moonstone) and another Carole Danvers. On top of that, art does not help. Avoid... more
