| 1. Star Trek: Enterprise: Kobayashi Maru (Star Trek : Enterprise) |
|
By: Michael A. Martin, Andy Mangels Publisher: Star Trek August 26, 2008
Ok, short version book is 300+ pages too long. Endless pc crap that provides information about people we don't care about and don't want to. Good news is there should be a tampon dispensary on the bridge of the Columbia. Good to know that women have increased their presence from 15% in the military and with future contraceptives they cannot bail out when they get pregnant. Why was... more

| 2. The Good That Men Do (Star Trek: Enterprise) |
|
By: Andy Mangels, Michael A. Martin Publisher: Star Trek February 01, 2007
Finally a quality story that brings together some of the hanging points from the TV series yet stays with the story as originally told. This was missing when the TV series was cancelled and now answers a lot of questions. It would be great is someone continued with this theme in future books to open a new direction for the Enterprise series... more

| 3. Taking Wing (Star Trek: Titan, Book 1) |
|
By: Michael A. Martin, Andy Mangels Publisher: Star Trek March 29, 2005
I've been a Start Trek fan since air. But, I never really got into the books which is an error I'm begging to correct.
One of the things that annoyed me about the various Trek series on TV is that most of the aliens are humans with extra facial bumps. As others have noted in their reviews, the crew of the Titan is anything but human. They are also anything but just a lot of humans with... more

| 4. The Red King (Star Trek: Titan, Book 2) |
|
By: Michael A. Martin, Andy Mangels Publisher: Star Trek 2005-09
This book was something of a chore to get through. First off, the book comes hot off the heals of the first book, which wasn't terribly interesting either. Second, the story takes place in the Small Magellanic Cloud with a race apparently introduced by these authors in an obscure Lost Era novel. (I say obscure as I've read the vast majority of Trek novels, but that one was beyond my notice.) The use... more

| 5. Cathedral (Star Trek Deep Space Nine: Mission Gamma, Book 3) |
|
By: Michael A. Martin Publisher: Star Trek October 01, 2002
The previous Mission Gamma story, "This Gray Spirit" and "These Haunted Seas", ended with a tragedy involving Thriss, the Andorian fiancee' of ch'Thane and this novel, "Cathedral", picks up where the previous novel left off. There's also the parallel story of what is taking place among the Defiant's crew during their mission in the Gamma Quadrant. So far, both subplots are intriguing and worthy of... more

From: Star Trek / Simon Says Publisher: Star Trek / Simon Says November 21, 2006
I'd have preferred if they had simply stepped up the pace at which they put out mass-market paperbacks, rather than going to the Trade Paperback format in order to fit in more stories; I find trade paperbacks to have all of the worst characteristics of both mass-market paperbacks & hardcovers: they're awkward & bulky, inconvenient to carry around, like hardcovers, and they wear out quickly... more

| 7. Trill and Bajor (Worlds of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Vol. 2) |
|
By: Andy Mangels, Michael A. Martin, J. Noah Kym Publisher: Star Trek January 25, 2005
Having liked star trek from its humble beginings i thought this book was well worth the wait, the story of trill and bajor are very well put together becouse it tells the reader all about the other planets in the federation that were affected after the story of Star Trek Deep Space Nine UNITY. Having watched star trek from the beginning i had no idea about the trill society and the fact... more

|
By: Michael A. Martin, Andy Mangels Publisher: Star Trek December 26, 2007
For anyone who enjoys Star Trek stories that don't revolve around the 3 "main" characters, this is a very good book for you. I usually steer away from books written by more than 1 author, however both authors wrote a book that is very engaging, and a fun read. Keep caught up with Sulu, Rand, Chappel, from the original series as they move on to the USS Excelsior. Great adventure from the Klingon side... more

By: Michael A. Martin Publisher: Star Trek April 25, 2006
I had heard that the new "Star Trek" movie (XI) would be using sources outside of the TV shows as Canon. (JJ Abrams made this decision - it is still contrary to the thoughts of Gene Roddenberry, but I've never understood why Roddenberry wouldn't accept some of the better written books as Canon.)
This is one of the books that is used as Canon for the new movie. It tells a story that takes... more

|
By: Andy Mangels Publisher: Del Rey April 15, 2008
I liked this book. It does get very Fanboy. Which can be a bit over the top on detail. Yet I liked it. The Iron Man encyclopedia is very good at the end. I actually didn't know much about Fin Fang Foom. That was my favourite bio. The book is very well sent out and the writer has done alot of research.
I did get a little bogged down in the book just purely on the detail. I was thinking... more
