I have been reading this series for at least 3 years. I watched all the DVDs of the series (much more abrupt...while there were 13 DVDs, we are now on manga 33 for preorder!). And I have to say, this series has kept me hooked! At 29, I am a little old for teen drama (or so I thought), but every time I order one of these books I read them from cover to cover within an hour. And periodically... more

This series has an unfortunate habit of drawing out a situation for volumes & volumes before it has a real payoff like this. Recently we got to meet a REAL rival for Tsubasa's affections in Shigeru, his betrothed fiancee. We realized that if Tsubasa hadn't met Tskushi, Shigeru would have been a good match for him. When we last left them, Tskushi had walked in on a very... interesting position between... more

I have reviewed some other volumes too and I just want to say the same thing again: This is the best shojo manga ever written. It was even adapted into a drama. Yoko Kamio's illustrations are excellent and you will find yourself getting deeply involved with the characters. Buy it (start with the first volume though) and you won't regret it... more

Even though the storyline of Hana yori dango seems typical it's a must read because of the way the story has been woven. I don't think any other shojo manga (excep Gakuen Alice) can ever match up to the greatness of Hana Yori Dango. It's the best manga series have ever read. But I really hope that someday it is released as a box set. Every volume of this series is really great... more

Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) is one of the best shoujo manga out there. This series just gets better and better. Writer Yoko Kamio's art is refreshingly different from other manga art, in which all males and females look disturbingly - somehow - the same. I shrieked with laughter reading the funny parts - which are written and drawn with true comedic skills.
Volume Three opens after... more

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity of treading water & endless romantic rivals, the end has finally come to this series. While I was overjoyed to read the final volume, part of me wondered if the series really needed 32 volumes to tell it's story.
In any case, this volume sees a big confrontation between Tskushi & Tsubasa's mother, with a decent resolution to that plot... more

Hana Yori Dango is undisputedly the best manga series that I have ever read. I wonder why shojo mangakas are not so unique anymore. The story is great and the artwork is great too. You will love Makino Tsukushi because she is a really great character. There is a reason that this series is so popula in Japan... more
