| 1. New X-Men: Academy X Vol. 2: Haunting |
| By: Nunzio Defilippis, Christina Weir, Michael Ryan, Paco Medina Publisher: Marvel Comics July 06, 2005
Each trade of New X-men gets better than the last. This one deals with the younger sister of the mental mutant David visiting her older brother at Professor X's school and wishing to be a mutant herself so she could go to such a cool school. The only problem with her stay is that the ghost of one of the mutant students killed in a previous issue attack is now haunting the school and trying to scare... more

| | 3. Heroes Reborn: Avengers |
| By: Rob Liefeld, Jim Valentino, Jeph Loeb, Walt Simonson, Chap Yaep, Ian Churchill, Michael Ryan, Anthony Winn By: Rob Liefeld Publisher: Marvel Comics January 10, 2007
ANYOEN WHO IS A FAN OF THE EARLY-MID 90'S IMAGE WILL LOVE THE HEROES REBORN AVENGERS. It feels more like a youngblood/ cyberforce comic, Which disapoints most avengers fans, but is still good read.
my main problem with is not the story, but the way marvel put the trade together. It collects Avengers Vol.2 1-12. They crossed over with Iron Man/Captain America & FF numerous times. so... more

| | 4. Michael Turner Tribute Edition |
| By: Jeph Loeb, Ryan Buncher, Joel Elad, Danica Hall, Kevin Mahadeo, Sophie Olmsted, Ryan Penagos, Patrick Vuong Publisher: Wizard Entertainment December 17, 2008
It is what is described, a decent collection of a lot of Michael Turners work and a few looks into the production and personal life. Pretty inspiring story. If you're a fan of his work it's perfect. Not a sketchbook though , just a collection of his covers, issues, creations, there area few sketches thrown in as well. Crazy to think how good he would have been had he been reading and drawing comics... more

| By: Charlie Huston, Mike Carey, Brian Michael Bendis, Robert Kirkman, Mike Deodato, Ryan Sook, Stuart Immonen, Frazer Irving, Mark Brooks, Salvador Larroca, Leinil Francis Yu Publisher: Marvel Comics February 21, 2007
I'm not sure why Marvel puts out these "Ultimates Annuals" omnibus books, since all of these stories are already available in the regular individual Ultimates series. This one's okay -- it has a Captain America-Falcon team-up with a WWII Nazi tie-in, the FF trouncing Mole Man in a muddled epic, while Spidey's story is probably the best of the lot (but that's because "Ultimate Spider-Man" is the only... more

| | 6. New X-Men: Academy X Vol. 3: X-Posed |
| By: Nunzio Defilippis, Christina Weir, Michael Ryan, Rick Ketcham Publisher: Marvel Comics January 18, 2006
This book held my interest so well that I finished it in one sitting. The drama heats up, there's a school dance, and the art is finally consistently good in this book. And as shown on the back cover, The Blob attacks. The back contains a nice 'Yearbook' section that gives short descriptions of all the mutants at the academy.
The book that follows this one is the M-Day: New X-Men graphic... more

| | 8. Astonishing X-Men: Mystique, Vol. 2 - Tinker, Tailor, Mutant, Spy |
| By: Brian K Vaughan Publisher: Marvel Comics November 01, 2004
The end of the series about the ambiguous shapeshifter Raven Darkholme, and her dangerous games. There are a few shorter stories here, of the more self-contained variety.
An interesting series that unfortunately didn't continue, and probably should have been a MAX title to get to its full potential. Bisexual shapeshifting spy/assassin/villain/mothers are not your standard sort of Spider... more

| By: Raymond E. Feist, Michael Avon Oeming, Bryan J. L. Glass, Brett Booth, Ryan Stegman Publisher: Marvel Comics June 13, 2007
Feists novels all are very amazing reads and I couldn't wait to see the adaptation into a graphic novel. I was very impressed with the beginning chapters. The pictures were very well drawn with vivid color and detail. As I have read all of Feists books, the artists depiction of the characters seemed dead-on and actually showed growth as the pages turned. Chapters 4-6 on the other hand made the main... more

Well, I read Eureka Productions' Graphic Classics: Edgar Allan Poe (Graphic Classics (Graphic Novels)), and I have to admit it - I was consequently a little disappointed in this sequel volume. While the stories in this volume were uniformly interesting (more or less), I didn't feel the artwork was up to same level as the Poe volume. (A notable exception: Michael Manning's excellent adaptation of H.P... more
