| 2. Man of Rock: A Biography of Joe Kubert |
|
By: Bill Schelly Publisher: Fantagraphics Books August 20, 2008
Like so many others of my generation, I grew up as a comic book collector. I knew little about Joe Kubert until I read MAN OF ROCK. This is a solid, well-researched, and entertaining look at Joe Kubert's professional life, especially if you're into comics. (How good was the book? Good enough that I hope that Schelly writes a bio of Neal Adams, an artist that he references throughout this biography.)... more

| 3. How to Draw from Life (Vanguard Drawing Series) |
|
By: Joe Kubert Publisher: Vanguard February 17, 2009
I bought myself this book as a late Christmas gift.
I am a aspiring illustrator and have loved Joe Kubert's art since I was a kid.
This book will not teach you how to draw through a series of drills or explanations of anatomy.
Joe goes all the way back to thinking. Think before and while you draw. Look at the subject. Learn from life as much as possible. more

| 4. Tarzan: The Joe Kubert Years Volume 1 (v. 1) |
|
By: Joe Kubert By: Joe Kubert Publisher: Dark Horse November 30, 2005
All three volumes of the Joe Kubert Tarzan series are must haves for any true Tarzan fan. I bought them not really knowing what I was going to get and I can honestly say that I was not disappointed. I only wish there were more! The price being offered at Amazon I feel is very reasonable and the volumes arrived very quickly and in great condition.
Each volume comes with a insightful... more

| 7. Tor: A Prehistoric Odyssey |
|
By: Joe Kubert Publisher: DC Comics March 30, 2010
Joe Kubert's Tor makes a welcome comeback with this book. Artwise, this has got to be one of Kubert's best efforts. Strangely, there are no word balloons but Kubert chose to describe what you already see in the drawings. I would have rather kept the whole book word-free, as it can actually work out as a wordless story. Other than that, if you are into great art and not to fussy about historical accuracy... more

| 8. Sgt. Rock: The Prophecy |
|
By: Joe Kubert Publisher: DC Comics April 07, 2007
As with any Joe Kubert work the art is good. But it is the story which has a deeper meaning. I don't think Joe was trying to make the best battle seens, even though the battles are pretty good. I think the book was done to paint a true picture of war. I really can't explain it any more. You will have to read it for yourself... more

| 10. Superheroes: Joe Kubert's Wonderful World of Comics |
|
By: Joe Kubert Publisher: Watson-Guptill January 01, 1999
3-1/2 stars. I like bits & pieces here, but it just seems *too* ambitious...
I'm a bit new to Kubert's work, even though he's an industry great. Famous for his comics work & his School of Cartoon & Graphic Art founded in '76, you'd think this would be a sure-fire hit, similar to John Buscema's How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way. While I do like some of Kubert's art within these... more
