|
By: Alex Ross Publisher: Pantheon November 08, 2005
Love the book...a Christmas gift for my son. Packaging for the book was a thin white envelope. The edges of the book were completly smashed in. The book had been listed as "excellent" for the condtion, so I am assumuing the bad condition was due to poor shipping. A padded envelope would have helped. Sorry!... more

| 5. Kingdom Come |
|
By: Mark Waid Publisher: DC Comics September 30, 2008
Kingdom come is one of the best comic works of the recent past. Alex Ross' paintings are beautiful and detailed, and the story evokes powerful emotions. What would the word be like without a Superman? We get to see this first hand, and watch the triumphant return of a hero who has been absent for many years. We also get to explore what happens when even Superman is not enough. The review is intentionally... more

By: Paul Dini, Alex Ross Publisher: DC Comics December 01, 2000
Within the first 10 pages of this very short story we see Captain Marvel telling a group of sick children how he took muzzled grizzly bears and threw them up in the air and juggled them as part of a circus act all to the kids great amusment. I guess the Captain's compassion only extends so far. The sick kids in the story are bringing tears to readers eyes at the same time they gloss over other forms... more

| 7. The World's Greatest Super-Heroes |
|
By: Paul Dini Publisher: DC Comics September 21, 2010
Though I sometimes find Alex Ross's art to be a little TOO realistic, there are infinitely more instances where his painted work here is majestic and iconic beyond words. And speaking of words, Paul Dini demonstrates a deep understanding of each character represented here and tells their tales capably, thoughtfully, and emotionally. It's a gorgeous volume for a killer price. Grab it... more

| 8. Justice, Vol. 3 |
|
By: Alex Ross Publisher: DC Comics October 10, 2007
The overall storyline was pretty good. I didn't understand why Joker wasn't affected by the nanomachines. The Plastic Man/Elastice Man rivalry didn't add much. It seemed a little weird that everyone would be won over by the former villians so fast, but that seemed like a minor issue. The reason for the dreams was hinted at enough for the explanation presented at the end to not be much of a shocker... more
